Pirate for the Sea[1] is a 2008 documentary film directed and produced by Ronald Colby[2] It follows the most daring and adventurous marine environmentalist Paul Watson during anti-whaling 57 days campaigns in the Antarctic, and several months in Canada, South America and Australia. It premiered at Telluride Film Festival in September 2008
Synopsis[edit]
The documentary follows Captain Paul Watson the most influential environmental activist who takes the law into his own hands on the open seas, confronting, by any nonviolent means necessary, the hunters who indiscriminately slaughter whales, seals and sharks, along with complicit governments and environmental organizations.
The film witnesses his latest campaigns and explores the personal and environmental history of this controversial marine conservationist.Throughout the film Watson faces problems with the international legal system, several arrests and aging boats and unpredictable weather conditions.

Pirate for the Sea was shot over a five year span in the Antarctic, Canada, South America, and Australia.
The film was independently produced by Colby's production company Artists Confederacy.

The film had its world premiere on September 2008 at Telluride Film Festival[3].
Awards[edit]
In 2009, Pirate for the Sea won for Best Feature Documentary at Boulder International Film Festival. In 2010 the film was awarded Best Environmental film at Byron Bay International Film Festival in Australia. Aldo Shllaku who composed the music for Pirate for the Sea won "Best Impact of Music in a Documentary Film" at Park City Film Music Festival.
