My closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Essjay 4 wasn't a "speedy keep". Wikipedia:Articles for deletion states that "Articles listed here are debated for up to five days"; given the length of time the AFD discussion had run, and the overwhelming consensus in favor of keeping the article, my closure was proper at the time it was effectuated. If you can do me a favor

I thank you greatly for your quick 3RR intervention on User:Gon4z, unfortunately i would be breaking the 3RR policy if i reverted the Albanian Land Forces Command and (now) the Template:Infobox National Military Albania page to their previous versions. If you or another editor could I would be even more grateful. Thanks, MrMacMan Talk 03:10, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Alright I certainly don't want you to get into trouble. Sorry for the inconvenience. MrMacMan Talk 03:24, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

Albanian Military

Hi mate I would just like to speak in my defense of what those tow users User:MrMacMan & User:Noclador have said about the Albanian Land Forces Command article they use one source that does not match with any of their figures or information and Yet I have presented over 7 sources proving they are wrong and yet they keep reverting the article also they accuse me of attacking them when I did no such thing you can go and read al of my comments, I would just like to ask that you monitor these two guys and see the vandalism they are causing to that article I have not reverted the article until we can come to a conclusion buy I have edited it so it matches with the source they have given and not with their made up figures also I have added that banner that this article is disputed and needs a clean up since it is not correct and needs to be fixed, it is obvious these two guys are here to vandalize the article because they are some sort of anti Albanians or something and they use anti Albanian racist website to cities their source which even that website does not match with the figures given, I hope you can take some action on this so we can come to a conclusion.

Thanx and have a nice day.Gon4z 01:36, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

  • You've also been pretty rude yourself, sir, and are not assuming good faith on the part of your fellow editors. Rather than posting snarky comments or just completely ignoring them, you've be much better off trying to work with them to achieve consensus on the disputed articles - Alison 19:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Hello again I would like to raise a concern that there are two vandals User:Noclador & User:MrMacMan they have been editing all articles that have to do with the Albanian military non are correct I have been blocked in two occasions for no reason, I have tried talking with them and reasoning with them but they are not listening they even changed the my words that I put in their discussion are to seem like I was attacking them so I would get banned, I would really appreciate if you take some action against these users, they have only provided one source for their edit that is 3 years old and even that does not match with he figures and information they have given, in their source it states that Albania operates 375 tanks and User:Noclador wrote that the tank inventory is only 79 which does not match at all with his source, every time I fix the information so it matches with his source he reverts it, I also have added the PVO banner because me and some other people do not agree with their sources and they keep removing it.

I have cities all of my edits but for some reason they keep changing them with older information and as it ways in the wikipedia dispute article you should give let them have their wary and I am letting them use their source for now but they can at least quote their source correctly and not make number from the top of their heads.

VP abuse

Hi Prodego, I have no idea if or when my situation will ever be resolved. The ANI discussion has been archived. So I guess it's up to you or Ale jrb to decide if I abused VP. Purgatory Fubar Converse or Snafu 23:01, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the update. As per vandalproof policy, if any user of this tool is legitimately blocked for any reason (especially for vandalism or violation of 3RR) and it is reported to a moderator, he/she will no longer be allowed to use VandalProof. User Purgatory Fubar was blocked here [2] and a request to be unblocked was furthermore declined here [3]. User Purgatory Fubar is now being investigated for possible evasion of the block via sockpuppetry [4]. 86.27.59.243 23:02, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

All right both of you, you want me to unilaterally decide, and I will. I will talk to some of the other mods, and we will let you know soon. @86, please stop talking about yourself in the third person. It makes it a more difficult to read your report. Prodego talk 01:26, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Discussion is fine by me. I'll email ya. Ale_Jrbtalk 15:08, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Albanian Military

User:Noclador & User:MrMacMan do not seem to obay the 3RR rule they have reverted my edit over 3 times now and wont stop I urge you to take action pls they are vandalising the articles. Gon4z 21:35, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
I have protected Albanian Land Forces Command, Albanian Naval Defense Forces, Albanian Air Force, and Template:Infobox National Military Albania until this dispute is resolved. Prodego talk 01:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm not sure why you have protected many of the articles above, I asked here ... but there is another article, Military of Albania which has also received a lot of edit warring. I do hope the page protection will be able to allow the editor who has been waring to discuss his edits before making his reverts. Thanks for your concern. MrMacMan Talk 02:58, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
I think it is prudent for a little while, since it is obvious this will just restart in 2 days. I just want to see a clear agreement (which there seems to be), and I will unprotect. In addition, I will leave Military of Albania unprotected for now, though that may change. Prodego talk 19:40, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Ashwood University

Greetings, old friend! Hope all is well with you. Can you help me keep an eye on Ashwood University? The place is far and wide reported to be a diploma mill, handing out degrees for cash without requiring students to, say, go to any classes. Various anons and new accounts seem to pop up all the time to delete the well-sourced critical info, and/or to instead insert the false claim that the institution is "fully accredited" and hands out valid degrees, or the like. I'm on the verge of semi-protecting the article. Cheers! bd2412 T 15:48, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I will put the page on my watchlist. Seems to me that a revert (and block if needed) strategy should be used in situation, rather then semi-protection, the vandalism seems to come only sporadically. I will be watching! Happy editing, Prodego talk 19:57, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Question

Dear Prodego,

I am trying to use VandalProof. I am getting a message about "corrupt user. please contact a moderator". I was wondering what the problem was? My username was added to the list three months ago. Thank you for your time! LaSaltarella 05:34, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

Vandal Proof Problem

Hi Prodego, you okayed me for Vandal Proof a couple of weeks ago so I figured I'd run this by you. I tried using Vandal Proof when I first received permission, had some trouble and did not have time to deal with it so I stopped, but now I've been trying again and am still having difficulty.

Unlike other users I have no problem logging in, but the recent changes list updates very infrequently (for example I can refresh it 10 times and it keeps listing the same 50 articles). Also the "rollback" and "rollback vandal 1" buttons (and I assume the other rollback vandal buttons as well) don't seem to do their job--i.e. they don't actual roll back the vandal edits (though I think "rollback vandal 1" does post a warning message on the appropriate user talk page--but that's actually worse given that I could not rv their edit). "Rollback removal 1" seems to work okay.

Any idea what the issue could be here? I have Explorer running in the background (I don't know if that's necessary or if you just need it installed on your machine--normally I edit with Firefox) and I'm running Windows XP. If you want I can post a bug notice, but let me know what you think whenever you get a chance.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 06:40, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

I think I figured out the problem with updating recent changes (I switched from RSS feed to normal feed) but I'm still having problems with the rollback buttons as I described above. I'm holding off on using VP any more for the time being.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 06:53, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Any chance I can get a response on the rollback buttons problem? Is it better to post my question elsewhere, such as on the VP discussion board?--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 23:28, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry, I am not a developer, and can't help you out. User:Ale jrb may be able to assist you. Prodego talk 00:11, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

No problem, thanks much.--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 02:08, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

VandalProof

Sorry to soak up the glory of a new barnstar with a question for troublshooting VandalProof :-)

I was approved to use vandal proof sometime this morning and I was wondering why I am unable to log in? In the user name box, it says:

CurranH

However, the text is grayed out. My password box is blank. And finally, My privileges box is grayed out, as well, and says:

No privoieges found

Could you take a look at this? I thought that it was possible that for some reason I was not added to the list. Also, is v1.3.6 the most stable, or should I be using an older version?

Thanks, Curran (talk) 13:23, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Vandalproof approval

What's the deal with User:?asil. It seems he has 0 edits, which is obviously a mistake (since he applied). Did you mean to approve User:Вasil? G1ggy! 00:17, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

VP

Thanks for your offer to assistance with VandalProof, however I evidently wasn't extracting the zip files to folder, which somehow was messing it up. I am, however, receiving error messages, like so:

An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 57
Char: 6
Error: Unexpected call to method or property access.
Code: 0
URL: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?
title=Special:Userlogin&action=submitlogin&type=login

Do you want to continue running scripts on this page?
((YES)) ((NO))

Thanks a lot,

Curran (talk) 02:29, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the script blocker, that did the trick. I assume that the error is attributed with my use of WP:TWINKLE. Thanks for your help!!! Curran (talk) 20:56, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
