Last decease and cause of the death[edit]

The death occurred at 15:45 (MSK) in the Central Clinical Hospital of Moscow as the result of a cardiac arrest, caused by progressive cardiovascular multi-organ failure, i.e. impairment of the function of internal organs, caused by disease of the cardiovascular system, as told in an interview to RIA Novosti the director of Medical Center Executive Secretary of the President of Russian Federation Sergei Mironov told in an interview to RIA Novosti.[1][2] At the same time, he told Vesti another reason: "Yeltsin has undergone through a quite pronounced catarrhal-viral infection (cold), which hit all internal organs and systems very hard." He was hospitalized twelve days prior to his death.[3][4]. During his last weeks, Yelstin was rarely able to get up from his bed. He had heart-aches, and in the last 3 days, his condition worsened. At the morning of April 23, he felt slightly better, after which the first president of Russia experienced two cardiac arrests. For the first time, the doctors were able to bring the patient back to life, but they were unable to do the same during the second attack.[5]. However, according to the heart surgeon Renat Akchurin, who conducted surgery coronary artery bypass grafting to the ex-President in 1996, the death was spontaneous. As it was wished by Yeltsin's relatives, no autopsy has been conducted.

Not long before the death, Boris Yeltsin has visited the Middle East (Jordan, Israel, Palestine), which could, according to the doctors, cause his health to decline.[6]
