Peñalara GHC is a software, used to create and generate school timetables. It was created in 1993 in Segovia, Spain, and it is currently used in 3.500 schools - most of them located in Spain and Latin America.[1]

In 2002, Peñalara GHC was selected by the Region of Murcia as the timetabling software of choice in all their public high schools[2] [3], followed by the autonomous communities of Madrid[4], Castile and León[5] and the Valencian Community, while it is also widely used in Aragon[6] and Asturias[7].

Peñalara GHC is integrated with all the school management software applications of each autonomous community, such as SICE[8], PLUMIER XXI[9], SENECA, SAUCE, and IES2000. In 2017, the private platform ODUCA integrated Peñalara GHC as their timetable maker in their school management software.[10] Additionally, free software applications also import timetables produced by Peñalara GHC.[11]

The principal defining feature of Peñalara GHC is its engine, which automatically solves the issues of making timetables for teachers, classrooms, subjects and groups.[12] The program's mechanism finds a solution, and while it optimises it, tries to meet all the optional conditions that have been entered into the program.[13]

Peñalara GHC is currently available in english and Spanish, and it has been currently selected by Microsoft to appear in its Windows Store.[14]
