Hashim Al efari (Arabic هاشم العيفاري)is an Iraqi film director, screenwriter and video editor, born in Karbala, Iraq. He graduated from the University of Baghdad, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Film and Television Arts. He moved to Baghdad in 2003, where he worked in a couple of Iraqi news channels as an editor, including Al-Iraqiya and Alhurra TV networks.

He participated in several workshops, including the “Iraqi Cinema Days” Workshop at the Royal Film Commission in 2009 in Amman, Jordan, “Human Rights Films” workshop at the Goethe-Institute in Erbil, 2010, in addition to the new version of Script Market for Gulf Short Films at the Gulf Film Festival In Dubai in 2012. Al Efari produced and directed few short films and documentaries that received film awards through participating in the international and Arab films festivals.

Hashim was influenced by Mohammed Khan was one of the best Egyptians filmmakers in the Middle East, and He shared his vision, storytelling, scripting and the way he produced movies. From reality movies to drama. That was within " Script Market for Short Gulf Films" at the 5th Gulf Film Festival in Dubai.[1]

Al Efari along with few young Iraqi filmmakers co-founded a film group 2013 it called “Baghdad Film Group”.

Berlin International Film festival listed him to be one of Berlin 2014 talents.[2] He was chosen as a member of the Special Committee for Documentary Films at the Oran International Film Festival in its eighth session in 2015. Al Efari was selected as part of the Screening and Selection Committee at the Al-Nahj International Film Festival.

He currently resides in the U.S. where he continues filmmaking dream of becoming one of the best Arabic filmmakers.

His latest project “4 FOURTEN 24” is a short film, the film was shot in Baghdad, Iraq. Was written, directed and edited by him.
