AfC notification: Draft:Enrique Acosta (actor) has a new comment

[edit]
I've left a comment on your Articles for Creation submission, which can be viewed at Draft:Enrique Acosta (actor). Thanks! Dan arndt (talk) 09:30, 30 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Dan, Thanks for helping me out with the wikipedia page I'm writing for my great grandfather, Enrique Acosta. I made new links today and added a filmography. When I get my photos out of storage, I'll scan a family photo of him and upload it to Creative Commons as everything I see on the web is a screen shot.
Learning a lot during this process (about his life as well). Thanks so much.

Not Rejected

[edit]

Your draft was Declined. Rejected is a more severe evaluation, meaning that the reviewer saw no potential for a successful article. David notMD (talk) 13:37, 5 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I waded through tutorials and eventually figured out the connection to Google Books were I found much more on him. So, the critique has been a big positive. I'm going through some family pics and seeing what I can upload to Creative Commons so we have some real photos of him on the web instead of only screenshots.
Best,

On sources, try archive.org [1] if you haven't, and sites like ProQuest, NewspaperARCHIVE.com and newspapers.com if you have access. WP:PAYWALL sources are fine, WP:OFFLINE too. Good luck! Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:50, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
thanks! great ideas. I wasn't having much success with my usual search methods. I'll try these sites.
It's been so profound getting to know this ancestor. As a child, when I repeatedly asked my grandmother about him (his picture was on the family photo wall), she'd say he was an actor who liked to dress up like a judge. My paternal grandfather and great grandfather died within months of each other about 10 years before I was born, so she was the only info.
The info I find putting together his wiki page is the fulfillment of that curiosity of the child who never felt like she got a straight answer to something that deeply mystified her. A strange motivator - but it was the catalyst.
Half of my paternal hispanic heritage was from the people living in the southern states of what is now the USA - conquered in the Mexican War (1850). The other half of my paternal ancestors stem from Enrique Acosta - a 50ish year old man who moved his entire family out of their country, from a life they loved, over the border to escape a war. Then he used his talent as an artist to make a life for them all. My admiration and feeling of gratitude is immense. Discovering this information is a huge gift. I'm so grateful for all of the researchers who contributed information.
Creating my wiki page is contributing a drop of knowledge into the ocean of humanity. I'm so happy to be doing this.
Thanks for helping me with this.
Best,
