Hi. As you recently commented in the straw poll regarding the ongoing usage and trial of Pending changes, this is to notify you that there is an interim straw poll with regard to keeping the tool switched on or switching it off while improvements are worked on and due for release on November 9, 2010. This new poll is only in regard to this issue and sets no precedent for any future usage. Your input on this issue is greatly appreciated. Off2riorob (talk) 23:25, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Adopt-a-user reminder
Hello, I have completed a general cleanup of the adopter information page for the adopt-a-user project, located here. During my cleanup, I have removed several inactive and retired users. In order to provide interested adoptees with an easy location to find adopters, it is essential that the page be up-to-date with the latest information possible. Thus:
- If you are no longer interested in being an adopter, please remove yourself from the list.
- If you are still interested, please check the list to see if any information needs to be updated or added - especially your availability. Thank you.
- You are receiving this message because you are listed as an adopter here.

Article cleanup tagging
Hi there, when you are tagging articles for clean up such as this edit, please ensure that the tags are accurate. I disagree, but understand why you tagged copyedit or essay-like - that is a judgment call, which is fair enough. Unreferenced, on the otherhand, should only be used when there are no references at all. If there are poorly formatted refs, or just primary sources or similar, then tags like {{BLP sources}}, {{No footnotes}} & {{Primary sources}} are more appropriate. Thanks The-Pope (talk) 11:33, 29 September 2010 (UTC)
- That's odd. I seem to recall the article not having any sources when I did that. I do know when to tag stuff and which tag to use (Twinkle is great for that). I've not a single clue why I put the Unref'd though. It has plenty of sources. Sorry 'bout that. Mr. R00t Talk 01:04, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Notability
For future reference please consider that wikipedia is an ongoing process and we literally have hundreds of thousands of sub standard articles on topics which coudl reasonably be expanded. I gather you have been informed about the status of populated settlements on here but this advice goes for all subjects. Please search for the article name in google books/google. A google books search would have turned up this. This should give you an idea of notability. A lot of articles extremely short or not will always be notable, they just need to be written. This will save you a lot of time wasting over AFDs. If you want to start somehwere I'd recommend Category:Moroccan footballers. Contains a lot of dubious articles.♦ Dr. Blofeld 11:03, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
ITN
On 30 September 2010, In the news was updated with a news item that involved the article Gliese 581 g, which you recently nominated. If you know of another interesting news item involving a recently created or updated article, then please suggest it on the candidates page. |

Please don't reject/open/approve/close/whatever reports if you're not part of the project. There are exceptions to the criteria, which may have been met. I'm not sure if this is one of those cases or not. Pilif12p : Yo 18:30, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, the IP had never been blocked and had only received 2 warnings. I don't really think that anyone would have acted on the request. Also, please check your usertalk page. Mr. R00t Talk 18:32, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

I believe that we can. Mr. R00t Talk 18:46, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Over the range of IPs it has certainly been blocked more than 5 times. If the requirement is one IP specifically has received 5 blocks, I don't think any on the range has received 5 (although that's a peculiar requirement, since IPs with large ranges could potentially never get investigated). Apologies for the confusion on the range; I used the automated process which requested the last IP used. In any event, the vandalism seems to have been tapering in the past few days. There are plenty of ways to handle this, including a 6mo rangeblock (since no useful edits come from the IP). The only reason I prefer the investigation is a kid with access to plenty of computers probably can jump to another range of IPs. Let me know what you'd like to do. Thanks, --TeaDrinker (talk) 19:27, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- We generallyapply the number of blocks to the user, so if multiple IPs can be linked to a single abuser across more than one IP, then it is still actionable. Also, the minimum requirement isn't necessarily a steadfast requirement, it is at the discretion of which investigator reviews the case. It basically boils down to how severe the abuse is and if the investigator feels it would be productive to report the abuse. You may edit reports after filing them in any way that would assist investigation of the abuse. We may re-word the requirement to suggest 5 blocks instead of making it sound like a solid requirement. 21:04, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
Editor review
Hi there! You recently filed an editor review request, and a review has been completed. Due to the nature of the process, backlogs frequently build up and most users only review one to few reviews. Since I believe you have received a fairly detailed review, would you like to archive it? I am aware that it has not been thirty days, but archiving it would allow editors to focus on reviewing editors that have not yet received one. If you wish, please reply here and I can do it. Of course, you could leave it up, but I do not believe there will be any more detailed reviews. Netalarmtalk 18:06, 4 October 2010 (UTC)

- Grrbibil8, it appears that their is no Template for what you are trying to accomplish. I don't really have any ideas for articles for you to write unfortunately. I'm going to make you the template really quick. Good luck, Mr. R00t Talk 21:22, 5 October 2010 (UTC)

Hey there. Is Wikipedia:Mediation_Cabal/Cases/2010-05-03/Communist_Party_of_India_(Marxist) still active? If so, where is it taking place? If not, would you like to archive the case? Netalarmtalk 17:59, 8 October 2010 (UTC)

An update from adopt a user
Hi there 1234r00t! You may be wondering, what have I done to sound the alarm this time? Nothing. I'm messaging you in regards to the adopt-a-user program, which currently has a backlog of users wishing to be adopted. This doesn't make much sense, as we have a considerable list of users offer adoption, so there shouldn't be any backlog. I've begun to eliminate this backlog myself through a matching program, but I need your help to make it work. Of course, adoptees and adopters don't have to go through there, but I believe it helps eliminate the backlog because someone is actively matching pairs.
On the list of adopters, I have modified the middle column to say "Interests." It's easier working with other users that have similar interests, so if it's not too much to ask, could you add your interests in the middle column? For example, if I was interested in hurricanes, computers, business, and ... reptiles? I would place those in the middle column. Counter-vandalism and the like can also be included (maintenance should be used as the general term). The more interests, the better, since adoptees can learn more about you and choose the one they feel most comfortable working with. The information about when you're most active and other stuff can go into the "Notes" section to the right.
Finally, I've gone around and asked adoptees (and will in the future) to fill in a short survey so adopters can take the initiative and contact users they feel comfortable working with. We all know that most adoptees just place the adopt me template on their user page and leave it - so it's up to us to approach them and offer adoption. So, please take a look at the survey, adopt those that fit your interests, and maybe watchlist it so you can see the interests of adoptees and adopt one that fits your interests in the future.
Once again, thank you for participating in the adopt-a-user program! If you wish to respond to this post, please message me on my talk page.

List articles and verifiability
Are list articles such as this subject to verifiability and if so would that mean it's ok to put a unreferenced template on one? Some lists are just really obscure. Devourer09 (t·c) 14:14, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Everything in mainspace is subject to WP:V. I went ahead and tagged that article for you. The answer is yes, they are. And sorry yet again for the late response. I didn't see your comment. Just a quick question for you, do you have this page watched? I want to know so I don't give you a {{Talkback}} template every time you ask a question. Mr. R00t Talk 22:35, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
Survey?
I was under the impression that Netalarm's survey was for adoptees...do you really want to be adopted? PrincessofLlyr royal court 16:13, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- Looks like that message was written for adopters, considering it mentions the unadopted user backlog. Devourer09 (t·c) 16:35, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
- I clicked on the wrong link apparently, or he linked to the wrong place. I definitely do not want to be adopted. That is rather odd though. I'll look around and see. Also try contacting Netalarm with a diff to his edit to this page. Mr. R00t Talk 22:28, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
