As your first edit, it was quite odd and not very well placed. If you are a legitimate editor, demonstrate that by logging in. Otherwise I can only assume random edits to policy pages (which are being inserted in a somewhat retaliatory manner) are vandalism. --Sagaciousuk (talk) 18:06, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Nonsense. You have another option: to assume that you are stupid, and refrain from editing or commenting.
The edit was perfectly placed. I need not demonstrate any legitimacy by logging in, as if that proved anything (the only reason to log in is to hide your IP address, which legitimate editors don't need to do). There is no such requirement at Wikipedia, and you do not have any grounds to claim that something is "retaliatory". I have cut it back to the minimum and placed the longer comment in context in the guideline itself, which I happened to notice while researching the topic.
Being wrong does not make you stupid. But persisting in aggravating a wrong, does. If you have objections to the wording as it stands, by all means edit it, but reverts with judgemental language will stand as proof of your incompetence.

Bye,

It is important to keep a cool head, especially when responding to comments against you or your edits. Personal attacks and disruptive comments only escalate a situation; please keep calm and remember that action can be taken against other parties if necessary. Attacking another user back can only satisfy trolls or anger contributors and leads to general bad feeling. Please try to remain civil with your comments. Thanks! --Sagaciousuk (talk) 18:16, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
