Don't add people's religion or sexuality as categories on BLP pages, per WP:CAT/R and WP:BLPCAT. Categories regarding religious beliefs (or lack of such) or sexual orientation should not be used unless the subject has publicly self-identified with the belief (or lack of such) or orientation in question, and the subject's beliefs or sexual orientation are relevant to their public life or notability, according to reliable published sources. I'm a little confused about the rules if you don't mind me asking a few questions, sorry if this seems rude, I'm awful at writing letters. How can you know when it is considered important? For instance I understand obvious ones like Pope Francis or Tim Tebow, where that is a very public part of their persona. However, how would you know say... Tom Brady or President Obama, who both have their faiths mentioned? Also why does the rule change post-mortem?

Sorry I didn't know about that rule and as it mentioned his faith in personal life so I doubted it would have been considered "controversial". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.184.153.17 (talk) 03:19, 30 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
