Information icon Please refrain from adding, removing or changing genres, as you did to Atticus: ...Dragging the Lake, Vol. 2, without providing a source or establishing a consensus on the article's talk page first. Genre changes to suit your own point of view are considered disruptive. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 04:14, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to change genres without discussion or sources, as you did at Sunny Day Real Estate, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 21:54, 19 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I'll make sure to use sources next time. Otherwise, I would like for my editing not be removed any way. Thanks! 201.229.156.150 (talk) 01:29, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, that's a good goal.
One of your changes was to make Sunny Day Real Estate a rock band rather than an emo band. Some sources call them indie rockers, while others call them emo. So maybe both of those genres are correct.
Wikipedia exists to summarize the published sources about a topic. You might want to sort through all the published sources to see what they are saying, and get a sense of what genres are coming up most often. For instance, this Waiting Room Records retail sales source says the band is indie rock, but that they were first Midwest emo pioneers, helping to establish the genre. This source says the band was "maintaining the defining passion of traditional emo", but that they were also "clearly rooted in indie-rock and preferred complex musicianship over brash hardcore-punk styles." The Brooklyn Vegan says they are emo.[1] Icons of Punk say that the band was label emo.[2]
Try hunting for more published reviews of the band, and see what is out there. Binksternet (talk) 03:25, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly! The common thing I see on most rock bands' articles in Wikipedia (regardless of their music style/genre) is that they state "X band is an American rock band". So I thought it would be correct to do that in SDRE's wikipedia article page because people can already see their style of music is already displayed in the infobox, that's all. 201.229.156.150 (talk) 23:57, 20 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I do not manage VPNs or modify my IP address to come here and edit however I want, this is my ISP doing it as I reside in a hotel, so they're doing it for security purposes. Honestly, this is a stupid decision as I wasn't being disruptive, just correcting and stating a fact. Either way it seems you wouldn't care less to see it yourself.

In the article's Composition page, the album is placed with two genres, both cited with sources, and I only undid a previous edit that removed the genre out of the infobox when it didn't have to be removed.

Decline reason:

You are evading a block and need to return to your original acccount. 331dot (talk) 16:38, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
