May 2023[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Please stop overcategorizing articles per WP:OVERCAT. You are unnecessarily adding general categories when more specific subcategories already exist. For instance, in these edits to Joe's Pizza, you added Category:Culture of New York City and Category:Cuisine of New York City, even though the page already is part of Category:Pizzerias in New York City, which is a sub-subcategory of both the Culture and Cuisine categories (through Category:Pizza in New York City). Similarly, you added the Pizza category even though the page is part of the Pizzerias subcategory.

Generally, it isn't helpful to add less specific categories when more specific categories already exist. Please refrain from doing this in the future. Thanks. Epicgenius (talk) 20:57, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

June 2023[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Kaeng pa. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been or will be reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continued disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. Please read Epicgenius' message from May 13, 2023. Please stop adding general categories to articles that already have more specific categories. If an article is already categorized under "Thai curries", please do not add "Thai cuisine". Thanks. Parent categories[edit]

Please stop adding categories such as Category:Landmarks in Boston to articles that already have categories such as Category:Landmarks in Financial District, Boston. It is redundant. It would be nice if you undid your own edits, to save someone else wasting their time. Seasider53 (talk) 21:43, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
