File permission problem with File:PatrickGrantComposer.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:PatrickGrantComposer.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:00, 30 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In this edit, you left the summary "Removed copyrighted picture" in regard to Patrick Grant at Music for a Change 08.jpg. I'm not objecting to the change of photos, but what copyright is the removed one under? The original on flickr is marked with an Attribution (CC BY 2.0) license which allowed it to be uploaded to Commons. Do you have evidence that it's owned by someone other than the flickr uploader? Also it looks like you uploaded File:Patrick Grant composer 2022.jpg as "own work". If you're not Mr. Grant, you should correct the licensing on the file. If you are, please see Wikipedia:Autobiography in regard to your edits to the article. Nick Number (talk) 20:21, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Nick - I am Patrick Grant. My wife took the previous photo that Wiki took from her Flickr account. I was really sick that day with the flu and we both did not wish for that photo to be representative. Instead, I took a selfie in my mirror and felt that is much better in terms of how I actually look in dat to day life. I'm so busy with my music, I unfortunately so not understand the protocals of Wiki that well. Is there anything I have to do? I'm just being myself and I hope that's enough. Happy Holidays
to you! 98.113.171.131 (talk) 20:29, 22 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. There's no problem with the photo – uploading those is appreciated – but editing your own article is strongly discouraged for the reasons detailed in Wikipedia:Autobiography. In the future, it would be best to post requests to the article's Talk page using the Edit COI template. That will allow a disinterested party to review the edits and avoid the potential appearance of bias. Nick Number (talk) 21:07, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I forwarded this to Patrick Grant and he replied:
"I understand. Thank you and Happy Holidays!"
