Other genocides to include in article in the future

[edit]

Bangladesh Genocide (1971 Bangladesh Genocide)

Bosnian Genocide

Darfur Genocide

Rwandan Genocide

Rwandan Genocide

[edit]

The Rwandan genocide began in 1994 when members of the Hutu ethnic majority in Rwanda planned to wipe out the ethnic minority, the Tutsi. About 800,000 Tutsi and moderate Hutu people were killed and many more were displaced from their homes. The Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) had infiltrated the country from the north prior to the genocide. During the genocide, the RPF worked to stop the extremist Hutu movements. [1]

Hi AMWilkinson! Great job so far, I really appreciate your contribution to Wikipedia by creating this article. The topic is well covered and provides a diverse array of perspectives. Your writing style conforms to Wikipedia standards; however, avoid the use of words like such and very. The number of hyperlinks to other pages is great and maintains a NPOV. I'm curious to see which Wikipedia article you based yours off of because the structure is unique. The lead paragraph is a bit short and I think could benefit from expansion, I saw that you said that you were still working on it, but it looks like you're at a good point now with the rest of your article to go back and really finesse it. I enjoyed the images you chose, I think if you could find one more it would help balance out the text. The coverage of this topic really takes into account marginalized perspectives and is on a unique topic. Great sources too, I was able to navigate to them with ease, which will be great for other readers. I have a Word document with of some of your grammar errors that I can email to you, nothing major- just a few commas and spelling issues. Fantastic start, I can't wait to see the final product! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hi AmWilkinson, great job so far. I can tell you have put time and effort into this project!

Things done well:

• There is a substantial amount of information here to help any reader understand the effects of genocide on youth. • A wide variety of information is provided on the most historically famous forms of genocide. • Accurate photos to emphasize the content. •I really liked that you put "See Also" in your article to direct readers to other Wikipedia pages. •You kept a consistent theme throughout the whole article of demographic effects, intergenerational effects, psychological effects,

Areas of improvement:

•Simplification of grammar. Works like "assimilated" are most likely outside of a middle schoolers vocabulary range. •Define genocide early on in the article. •Perhaps add more information about the "Armenian Genocide, Ottoman Empire" or take the section out. • Citations are needed throughout the article more often. Prove that these sentences are facts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Asievers4 (talkcontribs) 01:51, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A potential source: Add a part on how children play a part in genocide?
