April 2020

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Aboindustry. We welcome your contributions, but it appears as if your primary purpose on Wikipedia is to add citations to research published by a small group of researchers.

Scientific articles should mainly reference review articles to ensure that the information added is trusted by the scientific community.

Editing in this way is also a violation of the policy against using Wikipedia for promotion and is a form of conflict of interest in Wikipedia – please see WP:SELFCITE and WP:MEDCOI. The editing community considers excessive self-citing to be a form of spamming on Wikipedia (WP:REFSPAM) and the edits will be reviewed and the citations removed where it was not appropriate to add them.

Finally, please be aware that the editing community highly values expert contributors – please see WP:EXPERT. I do hope you will consider contributing more broadly. If you wish to contribute, please first consider citing review articles written by other researchers in your field and which are already highly cited in the literature. If you wish to cite your own research, please start a new thread on the article talk page and add {{requestedit}} to ask a volunteer to review whether or not the citation should be added.

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Aboindustry, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Request reason:

Greetings! I am reaching out to you as it seems that my account (Aboindustry) has accidentally violated Wikipedia contribution procedures, which has resulted in being confirmed by a CheckUser as a sockpuppet of Jayleecincinnati and being blocked indefinitely. Furthermore, all the references of Jay Lee have been removed from a number of Wikipedia articles. Firstly, I disclose that I am Qibo Yang who registered for Wikipedia using the email aboindustry@outlook.com, confirmed on 30 November 2017 at 21:18. I hope this can prove that I am not Jay Lee, and that this account is not a sock puppet of Jayleecincinnati. If more personal information is needed to confirm my identity, please let me know. Secondly, I sincerely apologize that I mistakenly asked my friends to help me edit the page after my initial attempt to update a few citations was refused. (For example, Shellsmen: xy47@nau.edu.) I neglected to consult the guidelines and therefore did this without realizing the error I was making in doing so, or that I was violating Wikipedia policy. I also did not realize that such an act would result in the removal of all citations regardless of their merit. This is especially worrisome because, for a number of the deleted citations, the content in question originates directly from those sources. I fear I have damaged the author’s reputation as well as my future ability to make legitimate contributions to Wikipedia through these actions. The content I have contributed and the work I have cited in the past is highly relevant to those articles, and in some cases is the basis of those concepts. I have now better acquainted myself with the policies and procedures for editing Wikipedia articles and realize my mistakes. I pledge that I will never again engage in conduct that might result in my being suspected as a sockpuppet. I do apologize for the inconvenience caused and ask that the citations removed be restored as it was not my intention to call their legitimacy into question by my actions. Your guidance and understanding in this matter are greatly appreciated. Please advise if there are further steps I can take to expedite a solution to this matter. Aboindustry (talk) 22:06, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You have been spamming on behalf of Jay Lee for years, and should have been blocked long ago. Whether you are personally Jay Lee is irrelevant. Equally irrelevant is whether your blatant attempt to hide what you were doing was implemented by using multiple accounts or whether (as you claim) it was done by organising a group to do it.
