Tips

[edit]

Hi some tips:

  1. When saving anything, please use an edit summary. It's useful for people to know what you have posted (new text, edit, spelling correction) and so on.
  2. Public domain means that images are free from copyrights. By default, all images are copyrighted in India. After 60 years from the date you published your work, the image copyright expires, and it falls in PD. So, all images published in India before 1-1-1948 are PD.
  3. In India, legally, you cannot licence your work under public domain unless you register the work with the registrar. However the template allows you to release the work to anyone the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law.
  4. All government works are copyrighted (except certain legal text)
  5. Information cannot be copyrighted (information would include facts, figures, exchange rates, and other data)
  6. To upload an image/audio/video to WP, the copyright holder must agree to allow derivative use and commercial use of his/her work. Explicit permission is necessary before uploading someone else's work.
  7. It would be nice of you could fill your user page and tell us something about yourself and interests on WP.

Happy editing! =Nichalp «Talk»= 13:30, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Archiving

[edit]

Hi!

I thought you might want to do this this time. Here are the steps:

  1. Usually the person who has answered Q25 correctly, takes the lead in archiving the page.
  2. 25 questions should be answered.
  3. Make sure no points are disputed
  4. Update the leaderboard, and remove any empty rows
  5. Create the new link on the bottom of this list: Portal:India/Quiz/Previous Rounds. Make sure you add the correct archive number, and mention who won the quiz.
You will get a redlink with the archive number (eg Portal:India/Quiz/Archive200)
  6. Click the red link to open the new archive page.
  7. Copy and paste all content from the ==Leaderboard== section up to the end of the page (Q25). Do not save as yet.
  8. In the archive page, add the template {{archive}} at the bottom and end of the page. This ensures the sections are not editable and provides a visual warning
  9. At the bottom of the page, below the archive template notice, make sure you add the category Archive0xx
  10. On the main PINQ page, clear all questions, and reset the leaderboard.

PS. Another request: Please add an edit summary to all your posts on Wikipedia. =Nichalp «Talk»= 09:59, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
