A tag has been placed on Draft:Muthana Mithqal Sartawi, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. -- RoySmith (talk) 17:55, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help request

[edit]

I created this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Muthana_Mithqal_Sartawi, and it was deleted for (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion)reason. It is a translation of an Arabic wiki page. Can anyone help me to remove the promotional materials or at least show me some examples where I used promotional materials in the article? thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahabibullah (talkcontribs) 19:42, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Ahabibullah. Is it the same article as Draft:Dr. Muthana Sartawi? It's written in a very promotional tone, including "internationally renowned", "He is one of the pioneers", "achievement is a remarkable addition", "is a source of pride to Kuwait". Wikipedia articles need to just include facts without offering opinion. The article also includes a list of his patents. It looks as if you might have a conflict of interest with the subject, in those cases it is best to just wait for the subject to become notable enough that someone else writes an article on them. If you have any further questions you can write here below. – Þjarkur (talk) 20:38, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Þjarkur, thank you for your response. I think you are referring to the old article Draft:Dr. Muthana Sartawi where I made some mistakes by using promotional tone. In the new article Draft:Muthana_Mithqal_Sartawi I removed the promotional terms that you mentioned ( such as He is one of the pioneers etc). Can you please take a look at the new article and point out where you think is the problem? Does listing his patents consider promotional?. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ahabibullah (talkcontribs) 21:39, 30 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As I'm not an admin I can't see the deleted article. You can request help from an admin by adding {{Admin help}} here below, asking that they point out some examples from the deleted article, however I won't advise that you do so, since articles aren't speedy deleted unless they are unambiguously promotional.
Even without the promotional terms, the draft which I can see (Draft:Dr. Muthana Sartawi) does not really explain to me how influential his contributions to the sciences have been, only that he has a patent on a technique. If the technique is new, it might be just a little too early to write an article about him. You can also have a look at the guideline Wikipedia:Notability (academics).
Listing patents is usually a sign of someone writing an autobiographical or otherwise promotional article. Again, if you have a conflict of interest regarding the subject, I highly advise that you just wait until someone else thinks he's notable enough for an article and writes about him. Writing autobiographies is strongly discouraged.
Wikipedia is only annoying and overwhelmingly complicated at first, it only takes a couple of weeks to get used to editing here. I recommend that you try contributing to already existing articles, if you have specialized medical knowledge for example, there are lots of articles in our WikiProject Medicine that need expansion.
And remember to sign your messages using four tildes: ~~~~.
