Thanks for the tips

Thank you for the precisions. First day on the job ;)

Where do I put sources ? do I add them on the page under references or do I add them in the "comment line" after editing the text ?

Thanks Andre

Hi Andre, thank you for your interest in and help with the Stephen Sutton entry. Some sick bullies are trying to get this entry removed. Your assistance is much appreciated. --Diana Elgar 00:26, 7 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for supporting my RfA

Dear Andre: I would like to thank you very much for your support on my RfA. I am most honoured by the trust that has been placed in me by yourself and other members of the Wikipedia community, especially since I did not conform to the standard edit-count criteria usually expected of administrator candidates. I promise to only use my administrative privileges to assist the community in doing good work, and also to be calm, considerate and careful in working to make Wikipedia a better place. I look forward to working with you on Wikipedia in the future. Best regards, --NicholasTurnbull | (talk) (e-mail) (cabal) 04:45, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

So I shot myself in the foot, eh?

I guess what you are saying is that I am the first person here to apply the concept of reputation to Wikipedia. Your opposition statement on my RfA implies that I need to do a lot more research before I render opinions on potential admins, and not apply reputations to people based on experience (i.e. "judging a book by its cover"). Thank you for the suggestion.  Denelson83  05:13, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

And I did not catch that quickly enough. I'll have to re-read that particular exchange. I have subsequently changed my vote on Friday's RfA to neutral.  Denelson83  05:20, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. So DreamGuy suffered damage to his reputation, instead of Friday. I now understand. Sorry about that.  Denelson83  05:25, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Perfectly fair.  Denelson83  21:06, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My "Standards"

You said "Private Butcher, your standards are absurdly high.", yes, yes they are high. Why? Because admins are very important, I don't think that just anyone should be able to be one. Only "elite" users to me should be able to be one. If you disagree that's fine, I'm just saying, not everyone should be an admin. Private Butcher 16:11, 8 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Qaz

Thanks for your support. I am glad I was able to meet your standards and I will work to constantly improve. Qaz (talk) 10:54, 9 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Election

Andre, thank you for your supportive vote on my quest to become one of the first members of the Esperanza Advisory Committee. Since the final results aren't in yet, I'm not going to celebrate, but rather just thank you and hope to continue working with you in the future. Good luck with your academic endeavours! Cheers, Bratschetalk | Esperanza 02:33, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Hi, Andre! Thanks for taking a moment to vote on my current RfA. I only added my support vote after noticing that several others had done the same in their respective RfA's. Had I known there was a policy against it, I would have refrained as it seemed rather unnecessary anyway. I noticed in the RfA policy that "self-nominators" are not allowed to vote for themselves. I just wanted to make sure that you were aware that this wasn't a self-nomination. Durin nominated me last Friday and asked me to move the link over when I got back from the hospital. Anyhow, thanks for your interest! Have a great week. >: Roby Wayne Talk • Hist• E@ 21:10, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. Seems rather pointless ;-). It all balances out in the end!! Thanks! >: Roby Wayne Talk • Hist• E@ 22:09, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Active Case?

Hello, I'm sending this to the five of you with cases listed as active in the active tasks template. Just wondering which of you still have it active and how you're doing with it... Please message me on my talk, or email me if you see fit. Thanks :) Redwolf24 (talk) 23:14, 10 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

A Few Questions

Hey, I've seen you around lately, but I haven't gotten the chance to ask you some things that have been bugging me.

  1. Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/RobyWayne -- He screwed up with that stupid taboo, he withdrew his vote. If you still oppose his adminship, please state some other reasons, or in my opinion you'd be violating a whole slew of Policies, stated at my Wikiphilosophies page. Please understand that this is not a threat, just a concern on my behalf.
  1. Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Denelson83 -- not as big a deal as above(it's a legitimate concern given his past), but I still disagree. Is there a way I can convince you that people change over time and that Denelson has made tremendous contributions to Wikipedia and strides to reform since his incidents, which were definately unfortunate.
  1. The Med Com -- I've been waiting for you and Ed Poor on there for awhile, but Ed hasn't been around that much lately. I've already got the support of pretty much everybody else, but I'd like to know what I can do to get your support. I want to endeavor to become the best Wikipedian I can be, and i'm only going to get there by getting the opinions of you and people like you, regardless of whether i've "clinched" on things like WP:MC or not. Karmafist 00:58, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!

Great! Thanks for your reply. Please let me know if I can help in the future. Karmafist 02:25, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

On Second Thought

This is bothering me, I need to understand something and discuss the reasoning behind your statements, I don't think I can end this discussion like I thought before.

  1. I was curious if you sawthis, this, and this comment on Maoririder's Talk Page before you made your comment. I've worked with Mentally Retarded people, and Maoririder reminds me of many of them.
  2. Which "several" users have I called a jerk? To my knowledge, I've only called one user a jerk: Coolcat, and that was in attempt to try and show some Wikilove to Fadix, who immediately returned that Wikilove with an Oppose vote on my RfA, before Coolcat voted for me. Because i'm right, as paradoxical as it may sound: he's a nice jerk, and he'll be the first one to admit this. A Cabal went up against him, he got defensive, and eventually did take the high road it seems when people asked him nicely to end this dispute, which in retrospect is what I probably should have done, but
  3. I disagree with your beliefs on my beliefs about WP:AGF (Just because an action is unacceptable doesn't mean it's done maliciously, like with RobyWayne, although his action was only partially unacceptable) WP:POINT (Users trying to make a Point have a significant effect on day to day issues on Wikipedia, particularly when using Bots), and WP:NPOV (I lean towards postmodernism, so I believe that nobody can be 100% without POV, but you can perservere to get as close to that as possible, and then when you make any decision on here, you should make them as "provable" and as anti-arbitrary as possible)
  4. I've talked a little about this situation with Redwolf24 on his talk page, from what i've seen so far. He's suggested that I open a Request For Mediation, but i'm going to try and solve things here first before taking that step. Karmafist 04:28, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I wish to further advance dialogue towards ending what seems to be a negative situation between us(as I have pereieved from your comments.)Please contact my talk page by tonight, or I will follow Redwolf's advice and ask for a RFM. Thank you. Karmafist 21:32, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Brain Teasers/Trivia:

Hi, I'm just posting a friendly notice stating that I have got Brain Teasers/Trivia on my user page that you're welcome to have a go at. Will post new questions one day after they have been answered. Thanks... Spawn Man 09:23, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your quick reply

Basically what i'd like to do is get your opinion on how to become more tactful, so to speak. I've made large strides, but apparently not enough. One thing though, i'm honest, almost too honest, and on occasion I have no problem calling a spade a spade instead of calling it a trowel or a shovel or a more diplomatic synonym because I have a dislike of people who I believe to be instigating disputes. I suppose either way it isn't a big deal, but i'd like to pick your brain. I'll respond to the rest later, I have to go soon. Karmafist 22:08, 11 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA

Thanks for your vote in my RfA. I'll do my best to live up to the wiki standards and be a good admin!

Advisory Committee

Andre! I just wanted to pop in to thank you for supporting me in the Advisory Committee Election. I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to do yet, but I trust that Essjay will be a good leader and let us know. And if he doesn't, I'll impeach him! ;o

P.S. I've noticed a change in the way you've been voting on RFAs lately. You've been explaining yourself. I'll keep my eye on the Requests for Bureaucratship. Someone's getting an Extreme Acidic Support very, very soon. :) Acetic'Acid 21:09, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your vote of confidence in the Esperanza elections. I look forward to helping Esperanza and Wikipedia progress. Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk | WS 21:58, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your concern on my RfA

I will look even harder into the background of a Wikipedian seeking adminship, and I will not carry any prejudice. Your opposition to my RfA was very constructive.  Denelson83  22:31, 14 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

More RFA thanks...

Thank you for supporting me. I'll try to only do a little bit of evil.  :) Wikibofh 00:15, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Question about editing

When you wrote

"...You may not have been aware of this, but it is our policy to only link once to each article. Andre (talk) 20:12, 6 October 2005 (UTC)

It was not clear what you meant, please explain in more detail.

Thank you, Andre!

Thank you for your support on my RfA. It is sincerely appreciated. ≈ jossi fresco ≈ t@ 14:55, 15 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
