I would like to thank you, too! Thanks for the welcome to wiki, although i know a few things from the german wiki already, which i don't like as much as the englisch version. :D Thanks again! Krempel (talk) 13:07, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
Another Warm Welcome
[edit]Thanks also for your welcome to Wiki!
Do know how can I edit pages which have being semi/partially locked? No problem I found it here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:User_access_levels#Autoconfirmed_users
"4 days old and have made at least 10 edits are considered autoconfirmed" ; so will have to just wait a few more days
Thanks,
Richard

Please refrain from making test edits in Wikipedia articles, such as those you made to Erode, even if your ultimate intention is to fix them. Such edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. Thank you. TestEditBot (talk) 08:50, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi
Just a quick note, if you help fighting vandalism, please make sure that you undo all the vandals changes. With the two edits [1] and [2] you only caught the latest, but missed one that was made by the same person directly before. If that happens, people who also noticed the vandalism will usually assume that everything has been fixed and move on.
The easiest way is usually to check the page history, compare the current article with old revisions until you find a clean one, then edit that old revision and save it (it will warn you that you are editing an old revision).
Thanks for helping, and Cheers, --AmaltheaTalk 12:26, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Reverting
[edit]Hi Andvd,
Thank you for the message. I'm really sorry. I reverted all the recent vandalisms but, as that the way the rollback feature works and them were edits in a row by the same IP, I had not the time to read all the article to find the another one that you found; as you can see, it were older than a week and another user seems to reverted oldest vandalisms before the IP that I reverted. Have you another tool to revert older edits? or maybe a way to find older vandalisms in the edits history? I'm interested to do a more profitable work.
Best regards, --Baiji (talk) 08:29, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks...

Links to MySpace, facebook etc
[edit]Hi in updating Evan Davis (actor) I noticed Wikipedia doesn't allow MySpace or Facebook, however there are links to those sites on the Tom Hanks and Kevin Smith page. Is there a way to link MySpace or Facebook appropriatly? Thank you. GoldenMonkey78 (talk) 10:47, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
Wikipedia does allow links to MySpace/ Facebook etc. However these links usually point to information that cannot be verified and/or written by the same person itself. Your links were removed by an automted Bot which probably searches for all new links to certain sites and deletes them. If you carefully read what the Bot has written on your talk page, you will find "If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert". Andvd (talk) 10:58, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Andvd
So if you are sure that the links you are providing enhance the quality of your article then go ahead and re-add them. Remember Bots are not as intelligent as us humans and are used for repetitive tasks. Andvd (talk) 10:58, 20 August 2008 (UTC)Andvd
Deleted Info :(
[edit]I am trying to load information regarding Louise Brill from the Fast Show, and someone has taken the information rudely questioning who she is. Louise was on the Fast Show series 2, 3 and 4 she did the 'Live Show' at Hammersmith Apollo, the Christmas Special, and the Fast Show 'Ted and Ralph film. Brill was also in the Holsten Pils commercial featuring the cast of the Fast Show, How am I to add information for this person if it is to be so easily deleted? Please help! (BRODYJ (talk) 19:23, 22 August 2008 (UTC))
- No new user to Wikipedia should be treated rudely. Was any rude message posted to your talk page?
- A feature of Wikipedia is that it is so easy to delete information. This is very useful when countering vandals. However, unimportant information will also be deleted. It looks like this has happened to your article since I cannot find it. Was the article deleted entirely or just the content? Was any message posted to your talk page warning you about potential deletion? Andvd (talk) 09:00, 25 August 2008 (UTC)Andvd
- I added information on the 'where are they now' section of the Fast Show page. The whole article was deleted. no message was posted on my talk page. I am trying to put together a whole page on the actress to have included on the site - but I am concerned that the whole work will be deleted, which, with all the work it would take - is a little disheartening. I see someone has already requested a page to be written on Louise Brill, would it be possible to add contributions to this page once it is set up?
- Thankyou for you help :) BRODYJ (talk) 14:08, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]. . . for the tip on my talk page. I try to leave a link, but you must have seen one of the times I forgot! Please let me know if you see anything else that will improve my editing. Movingboxes (talk) 07:48, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
use of the db-nonsense tag
[edit]Hey Andvd,
Thanks for the advice, but i'd like to know what difference it makes whether the Speedy Deletion Tag is one of "nonsense" or "vandalism", if the recently created article is clearly just a load of baloney which will be deleted anyway? Cheers! --Fatal!ty (T☠LK) 08:06, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- For the simple reason that it allows the author of the article to know why the article is nominated for deletion. The author can then respond appropriately on the discussion page after placing a hangon message. If a new user starts an article about a group you have never heard of, you would mark it as db-nonsense, instead of db-club. Any new user would then get confused as to why the article is considered as nonsense when it is written so well. Andvd (talk) 12:01, 28 August 2008 (UTC)Andvd

New deal for page patrollers
[edit]Hi Andvd,
In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.
Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.
Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:28, 13 November 2016 (UTC)
