Articles I've Written and or Editted: Help me improve, I'm not that good

[edit]

I'll try to improve these articles if I have free time. Anonymous anonymous 21:05, 8 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Délifrance: February 6, 2006 (Written)

[edit]
Hello! Which article are you referring to? Délifrance? At the moment, it's empty. --HappyCamper 17:12, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm talking about the Delifrance article. Sorry for the mistake. Maybe the article should be moved. :) Anonymous anonymous 17:13, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, this one...Delifrance...Well it looks okay at the moment. Is it a resonably large company? Check out Wikipedia:Notability (companies and corporations) for guidelines on writing an article on a company. I'll make the move for you too right now. --HappyCamper 17:15, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's notable enough. I checked out it's official website. The French food seems delicious. Anonymous anonymous 17:17, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that is my inclination too. Well, the article is rather short, but for now it seems okay. Is there anything else I can help you with? --HappyCamper 17:19, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. I'll try to expand this article. Anonymous anonymous 17:21, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Great! Well, I am going to step away from the computer now. If you need anything else in the future, please feel free to come by my talk page. See you around! --HappyCamper 17:22, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. If you want to put images in an article have a look at Wikipedia:Images, or the more detailed instructions at Wikipedia:Picture tutorial. Good luck. Flowerparty 13:26, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I have placed the logo. Anonymous anonymous 18:20, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Phobias Article: February 7, 2006 (Editted)

[edit]

Do you think that it's necessary to have examples of Phobias in the Phobia article? ( I did learn a bit of psychology in school ) I'm logging out Anonymous anonymous 21:09, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you think it is worthy of inclusion, go right ahead an add it! This is a Wiki after all - at worse, someone might come by and remove it later, but the information will still be contained in the history. Also, I noticed that you inserted a bunch of empty spaces to make the entries distinct. You can also do this by adding bullets. See for example the editing I did here: [1]. --HappyCamper 21:12, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would suggest the correct place to add them is the -phobia topic, since these are not clinical terms or in the form of DSM-III or DSM-IV classifications. Examples of phobia in clinical terms are Agoraphobia, Specific Phobia, and Social Phobia. --MegaHasher 21:43, 7 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nick Arnold and Tony de Saulles: March 28, 2006 (Written)

[edit]

Are they OK? Anonymous anonymous 18:23, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I see. Well done. I don't see any obvious issues. Maybe categories could be added to them. Nice job! GfloresTalk 18:37, 28 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

4 New Articles about British Writers/Books: March 29, 2006 (Written)

[edit]

Anita Ganeri March 29, 2006

Horrible Geography March 29, 2006

Mike Phillips (Illustrator) March 29, 2006

Nick Sharratt March 29, 2006 (I don't think that this one is notable enough) Anonymous anonymous 19:28, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice. Horrible Geography could use a category placement. See WP:BROWSE. I've added one now. Nick seems notable, could you list some of the more notable books he has written? Keep up the good work. :) Oh, the image on Anita may be deleted after 7 days. You should tag it with an appropriate license (fair use-promo) or something like that. Let me know if you ahve questions. I'm not sure whether this article is ok. Anonymous anonymous

It could use some external references. See Perfecto's article creation guide as well as links he lists on other parts of that page.

Adding Picture: How do I add Pictures?

[edit]

Hi what problems are you getting adding the picture? Did you look at the picture tutorial mentioned above? It should be as simple as adding [[Image:name]] though there are various options that can be added, e.g. to scale it and to add a caption to it. --pgk(talk) 18:19, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Articles For Deletion Tag

[edit]

what's the tag for articles for deletion? Anonymous anonymous 13:27, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are a few ways things get deleted, so this is a tricky question. Were you thinking:
If you have a follow up question use {{helpme}} again an we will return.--Commander Keane 13:34, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Anonymous anonymous 13:37, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

To delete pages, you need to be an admin. If an article is clearly junk, use the speedy deletion tag, and it will soon be picked up by an admin, if it's arguable, use AfD, jimfbleak 14:03, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Admin

[edit]
I thought that might be the next question! You need to establish a track record as a reliable and trustworthy editor. There's no fixed period, but as a new contributor tou will need to get in at least a few weeks' more contributions. You then ask an admin to nominate you (or they may suggest it), preferably someone who works on similar articles and will know your edits, and then the nomination will be listed to give people to say yea or nay. jimfbleak 14:14, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Protecting an article against vandalism and nonesense

[edit]

What's the tag? Anonymous anonymous 15:08, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you need to familiarise your self with protection and vandalism. Wikipedia:Protection policy and Wikipedia:Vandalism are good starting points. Only admins protect pages, so they will be the only ones using a tag. Users can visit Wikipedia:Requests for page protection however. --Commander Keane 15:13, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I locked an article because it's being constantly vandalized. I think that it's the Randy Orton article. I didn't know that only admins could lock articles. I'm terribly sorry. Should it stay locked? Anonymous anonymous 15:20, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
All you did was place a template on the article (which you should remove now, because it does nothing). Only admins have the "Protect" button, the template by itself has no power. By the way, can you please not respond to {{helpme}} requests unless you can answer them, we keep bumping into eachother :-).--Commander Keane 15:27, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Someone Vandalized My User Page!!!

[edit]

A student from the school I work for vandalized my page!!! How will I restore my User Page back to normal? Anonymous anonymous 11:35, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You need to revert to the older version. There are some instructions at the start of Wikipedia:Revert. Basically, just click on the date of the last good version. Click "edit thi, and save.--Commander Keane 11:40, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what this infobox is for, but Wikipedia:List of infoboxes mentions Wikipedia:List of infoboxes/Proposed, where you propose new infoboxes.--Commander Keane 13:10, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This infobox is about writers. I proposed it minutes ago. Anonymous anonymous 13:28, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What do you need help with? If you are wondering when the infobox becomes approved, you should ask at the infobox page, or look for a WikiProject to discuss it (eg Wikipedia:WikiProject_Authors or Wikipedia:WikiProject_Books etc.--Commander Keane 13:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No. of Edits

[edit]

How will I know the number of edits I've made? Anonymous anonymous 16:04, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This tool, although it's 13 hrs slow at the moment, so it doesn't count recent edits (ones made in the last 13 hrs).--Commander Keane 16:15, 10 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It's one second slow now, Anonymous anonymous 13:23, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

[edit]

How do you obtain one? Anonymous anonymous 17:26, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They are awarded by someone to you for "hard work and due diligence"1. Work hard in Wikipedia, and a barnstar will be presented by someone who recognises your contributions.--Commander Keane 17:31, 11 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

{{Userpage}}

[edit]

Is it OK to place this template on empty user pages? (It has caused confusion, well at least for me)

Anonymous anonymous 08:45, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Generally, you should not edit anyone elses userpage. Some people prefer to have an empty userpage with a redlink. So no, you shouldn't be adding that template anywhere apart from your own user page. Wikipedia:Userpage mentions "...Other users may edit pages in your user space, although by convention your user page will usually not be edited by others."--Commander Keane 08:49, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks Anonymous anonymous 08:50, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation pages and Moving Articles

[edit]

How do you create Disambiguation pages and how do you move articles? Ω Anonymous anonymous Ψ: ''Have A Nice Day'' 16:54, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation pages are just normal pages with {{disambig}} down the bottom. They have a special style which is described at the MoS.
Help:Moving a page may be useful. Pages are moved using the "Move" button (to the right of the history button).--Commander Keane 17:00, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My Userpage is gone...

[edit]

My user page is gone. What happened and how will I restore my old one? Ω Anonymous anonymous Ψ: ''Have A Nice Day'' 14:12, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The log shows who deleted it and why: log. Any admin can restore a deleted page, which I have done. Perhaps one of your userboxes accidentally had a speedy deletion tag on it, and that confused Happy Camper - but ask him, he's the only one who will know.--Commander Keane 14:19, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I created this account for testing purposes, I've also read Wikipedia:Sockpuppets. I'm not sure whether this account is ok. Is it?

Ω Anonymous anonymous Ψ: ''Have A Nice Day'' 18:28, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes that is fine. Obviously the testing account shouldn't be used to vote in polls (at articles for deletion etc).--Commander Keane 18:32, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. Ω Anonymous anonymous Ψ: ''Have A Nice Day'' 18:56, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
