Disambiguation link notification for August 21
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of peaks in Himachal Pradesh, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chamba. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Sonam Gyatso
[edit]Thanks for getting the error in citation in the article on Sonam Gyatso. However, it was only the citation which was wrong, Gyatso in fact scaled Kanchenjunga in 1961. I am re-entering the content with correct citations. Thanks!!--jojo@nthony (talk) 12:49, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- On second thoughts, I will wait for further evidence before doing that. The reference I have is this.--jojo@nthony (talk) 12:52, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- No problem, mate. I've been looking into the history of Kangchenjunga for quite some time now. Just like K2, after its initial ascent in the 1950s, the second ascent on both mountains came more than 20 years later in 1977. For Kangchenjunga, the second ascent was done by a team of mountaineers from the Indian Army. That's why your addition of an ascent in 1961 just startled me when I saw it, as that would have been a very major achievement in the history of mountaineering. Bear in mind, climbing Kangchenjunga has always been harder than climbing Everest.
- This is the German wikipedia page for Kangchengyao - a lower peak in Sikkim - which contains the original link from the Himalayan Journal that you were using for Sonam Gyatso. This article spells Kangchengyao as Kangchen Jau. Kangchengyao is 6889m or 22603ft high. If you read the Himalayan Journal article, it mentions surrounding peaks like Chombu and Yulhekhang, that are close to Kangchengyao, but are much further away from Kangchenjunga. The article in everesthistory.com gets the mountain name wrong (quite possibly because they sound very similar), but they get the height of Kangchengyao right.
