September 2020[edit]

Hello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to The Glitter Band has been reverted. Even though this edit was made in good-faith, it introduced too many syntax and grammar errors into the article. It also cited unnecessary details (e.g. associated artists’ releases, DOB/DOD). I would try to fix these mistakes as I appreciate the time you took to edit this page, however there were too many. Please also make sure you do not use the minor edit function for these types of edits. A copy of your edit is available on the article’s edit history if you would like to try again. For more general advice on editing see the Contributing to Wikipedia page.

If you have any questions, please leave a message on my talk page. Thank you.

Simply trying to give the original founding, Glitterband members, from the Boston Showband, their place in history especially late John White, the 1st drummer and late Ray Moxley. How do you suggest I do this as deleted every time. Surely this founding, original line up should be shown and not omitted or re.their 1st 1972 TOTP performance. Deleting and omitting this is lying by omission. There are inaccuracies in current Wiki Glitterband info, incl.sequence of early events. John Rossall btought GG in from his BSB. Why is it not relevant to mention both new albums by Phipps and Rossall 2020 as shows they are still active recording new music? Re.DOB & DOD that is a common feature essential to Wiki to assist readers in knowing if band members still alive or not! Re.grammar and spelling, my English correct!and have and a degree in that subject. The original wiki article does not flow in sequence well and tends to jump about - not at all well composed. Please advise re.founder members and new albums. Thank you. AuntLily1 (talk) 18:33, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I tried to address you with civility and would appreciate the same. You do not sound as if you are willing to concede on any points I have made. As I previously said I can not go through your original edits piece by piece. I suggest you keep any information about previous band members etc to a minimum and try to provide citations. Do not use abbreviations in the article. Of course, I am just one editor and you are free to discuss changes in the article’s talk page.

Cheers, AussieWikiDan (talk) 18:47, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, A bit taken aback by your reply as I wrote you a very civil message and I'm always a polite person! Where was I not civil? Cannot understand your personal tone unless you are the author of the article. You actually criticised my grammar whuch is the first time that has been said to me. However, it is helpful to remind me re. not using abbreviations and apologise if I did. When I referred to article lying by omission that was not a personal to you remark. It's important to acknowledge founder Glitterband members and fact 4 are now sadly deceased, otherwise the band's musical history has been rewritten incorrectly. Re.new albums, surely ok in an edit to just mention the names of the 2 new albums by former and current members (accept without any review) to show both still active musically? Would welcome your advice on this please. If you are the authorI understand you may not wish changes. I presumed you were a freelance wiki editor. Please clarify this point. Thank you. Hi there, I patrol recent edits and so am not linked with this particular article. I don’t think I can add any more advice from what I have previously stated. You can always ask at the Teahouse. I have limited time so am unable to go over any more details, I apologise. Thank you and maybe your message was just defensive rather than uncivil to me. AussieWikiDan (talk) 20:01, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Dan. Hmmm I think it was neither uncivil or defensive. All I hoped for was that founder members could be recognised as seems wrong to leave them out of the band's musical origins. I think I was entitled to question you criticising my grammar as there were no errors. The whole article needs revising, tightening up, correct sequencing and updating so it was not easy to insert a few, small edits. As a GCSE examinations marker I think I was entitled to answer what you said and can't quite understand your personal reaction, or lack of allowing inserting founder members, if you have no personal tie to this article...Makes Me Wonder, to coin a pun, if you are the author of this Wiki page!! Think we should leave it there but disappointing these founder members and the truth not honoured. Goodnight.

Hi there, just to be clear I do not take this personally and I am not linked to this article. I am just making sure that edits adhere to Wikipedia guidelines. I hope this does not put you off editing, in future, on Wikipedia. All the best, AussieWikiDan (talk) 09:41, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In that case it should be ok to include a small edit re.founder members of the Glitter band, please, so they have their rightful place in the band's history, especially the late and very 1st drummer John White and late guitarist Ray Moxley? Best... AuntLily1 (talk) 13:56, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
