Merry Christmas
[edit]
Hi! Your user page is not semi-protected, and you didn't specify what you wanted doing to it anyway - or ask a question. Is there something you did want to ask about? Yngvadottir (talk) 16:22, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
Welcome
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, Bababa67, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Simplified Manual of Style
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question and then place {{Help me}}
after the question on your talk page. Again, welcome! Yngvadottir (talk) 16:30, 27 December 2014 (UTC) Yngvadottir (talk) 16:30, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
I notice you've been mainly editing your user page, this talk page - and a subpage for an unapproved bot. What's that about? Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and all, but does Σ know you are claiming to have an approved clone of lowercase sigmabot? I believe you will need to make some good article edits before you can get a bot approved for trial. Yngvadottir (talk) 16:30, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
You used the {{Help me}} tag but did not ask a question. Please write out your question and replace the {{Help me}} tag when you are done, and someone will be along to help. Alternatively, you can ask your question at the Teahouse, the help desk, or join the #wikipedia-en-help IRC help channel to get real-time assistance. Click here for instant access. |
- I'm sorry for being blunt, but I get the impression that you don't really understand what you're doing. For example, running a bot on Wikipedia requires approval by the Bot Approvals Group. Running a bot without approval would be grounds for blocking, not just for the bot but also for the operator. I'd strongly suggest not to bother with a bot right now but rather to focus on improving Wikipedia directly. Huon (talk) 02:17, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Huon, Please protect my user page so they cannot vandalize --Bababa67 (talk) 02:25, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
- I have semi-protected your userpage. If I protected it fully, even you wouldn't be able to edit it any more. Huon (talk) 02:40, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Huon for supporting me --Bababa67 (talk) 02:50, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
Test edits
[edit]It's okay to make test edits in your userspace, but please don't 1) transclude guideline/policy pages or 2) copy material from bots and make it look like you have/are running an authorized bot. See the Wikipedia:Bot policy and the thread on this subject at Wikipedia:Bot owners' noticeboard#Bababa67. I've deleted your "signmabot" pages. –xenotalk 01:02, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- Please also do not use templates like
{{EBS}}
that give the impression that you have a bot account, when in fact, you don't. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:15, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
Multiple Accounts
[edit]It has been found that you have been using one or more accounts abusively or have edited logged out to avoid scrutiny. Please review the policy on acceptable alternate accounts. In short, alternate accounts or people to support you should not be used for the purposes of deceiving others into seeing more support for your position. It is not acceptable to use two accounts on the same article, or the same topic area, unless they are publically and plainly disclosed on both your and the other account's userpage.
Your other account(s) have been blocked indefinitely. This is your only warning. If you repeat this behaviour you will blocked from editing without further notice. Thank you. Mike V • Talk 20:21, 29 December 2014 (UTC)
- I have semi-protected the edit notice, but I want to be clear here: There was no indication of IP vandalism whatsoever. To me it looks as if the only IP editing the page was yourself while not logged in. Huon (talk) 13:55, 30 December 2014 (UTC)
- I agree, Huon. Kelapstick, I think this is what you were asking about. Drmies (talk) 15:56, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
New Year Vacation

Editnotice
[edit]As a FYI, I have moved the edit notices for your user and talk page to User:Bababa67/Editnotice and User talk:Bababa67/Editnotice, respectively. Editnotice page names are case sensitive, and they previously didn't work. Huon (talk) 16:45, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
New year's greetings
[edit]Hello Bababa67, thanks a lot for the new year's greetings you left at my talk page; may you also have a happy and healthy 2015! I have something of a puzzle for you: Right now (but I expect that may change) your message on my talk page reads: "SineBot, Have a prosperous, productive and enjoyable New Year 2015 ..." While I too wish for SineBot to have a productive and prosperous new year, I don't quite think that's what you wanted the message to say. I have an idea of how your template could be changed to say, "Huon, Have a prosperous..." instead (automatically using the name of the user you sent the message to, of course). Do you want me to fix that, or do you want to figure out how to do so on your own? A clue would be Help:Magic words and maybe Help:Substitution (also useful if you want the message to include a timestamp). Yours, Huon (talk) 02:27, 2 January 2015 (UTC)
- Since you didn't reply here, I have now fixed your new year's greetings template so that it no longer changes the person to be greeted according to whoever last edited the target page. It must now be substituted to work properly, but on the plus side, then it'll also have a no-longer-changing timestamp. I have also drastically simplified your userpage editnotice. As the name says, that's supposed to be a notice others see when they edit your userpage - it's not supposed to be a duplicate of the userpage itself. Huon (talk) 00:40, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
When are you going to start building the encyclopedia?
[edit]Hi, I've been watching the manifold changes to your user page with some concern. This morning, your edit count on English Wikipedia passed 500. But very few of these edits have been to articles; in fact, out of 547 edits so far, there have been 21 edits to articles, and one edit to a template's talk page. By contrast, you have made 396 edits to user pages, and 67 edits to user talk pages (mostly your own). The balance of 62 edits were all deleted, but again, they were mostly (55 edits) to pages in your user space.
When are you going to stop prettying up your user page, and start building the encyclopedia? --Redrose64 (talk) 14:20, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
- Building the encyclopedia does not mean deleting almost half of a large article, as you did here. Please consider your edits carefully. --Redrose64 (talk) 18:48, 21 January 2015 (UTC)
You create my user page
[edit]No thank you regarding creating my user page. Sadkins1953 (talk) 03:04, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- why--Bababa67 (talk) 05:02, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- @Bababa67: As I remarked above, you should be here to build the encyclopedia, not your user page; by extension, you should not be offering to create other people's user pages, either. See WP:NOTHERE. --Redrose64 (talk) 11:26, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- I'll second that. You're engaged in designing colorful pages of no value at all to the encyclopedia, and when your creations don't work as intended, you can't even be bothered to fix them. Your editnotice once again is so long that someone trying to edit your userpage likely won't even see the text box without scrolling. You should take a look at WP:CSD#U5: If all you do is paint your own userspace, we can simply delete all that stuff without loss to the encyclopedia. Huon (talk) 17:36, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
- I have reverted your latest changes to the talk page editnotice and once again drastically shortened the user page edit notice. The pages you put there did not serve the purpose of an editnotice and in fact were both a distraction and a hindrance. For example, the floating links to your user page, talk page, contributions, and sandbox interfere with the standard links to a visitor's user page, talk page, contributions etc. Another admin I showed your talk page editnotice even commented that they would refuse to edit your talk page with the garish version of the editnotice - thus it not only didn't serve the purpose of an editnotice but was defeating the purpose of the talk page itself.
