January 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles or other Wikipedia pages, as you did to Blue Mountains (New South Wales)‎. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. —EncMstr (talk) 00:48, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies, I run a not for profit community site. I had a look at the links and couldn't see the difference between putting my link there and this link that has advertising on it, that is already there: http://infobluemountains.net.au/

You are welcome to email me at blackheathweather@hotmail.com to talk about this some more, if you are willing? I have been running my site for more than a decade and it is used a lot by tourists. Just thought it would be of help to folk viewing this wiki site.

Upon closer inspection, it looks like your website is a reasonable external link for this page. Someone else might disagree, in which case we would discuss it at the article's talk page. Sorry for the confusion. —EncMstr (talk) 22:34, 14 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

No problems at all, I can understand your initial decision. I will leave it for others to decide whether my link should stay or go. My main aim is to help others stay safe and well informed of the current weather when visiting our area. Some bush walkers in the Grose Valley came close to death after the severe storm on 16-1-10, when flash flooding in the valley produced the heaviest flow at Bridal Veil Falls in perhaps a century or more.

Hello, one thing Wikipedia is not, is a community information service (imagine if an emergency fire information phone number was vandalised!) though I see no probs with your website. May have been named after is also a no-no; you do need to provide a reference for the naming. Don't be deterred by a couple of minor glitches, though. Thanks for that, I will keep on working on refining my style and skills here. Thanks for your help.
