Hi,

We are having to continually make edits due to persistent vandalism. This was reported by us a couple of weeks ago. We always try to fill in the edit section but the vandals do not. If there is any way of protecting this page to prevent this but still allowing us to update our page, it’s be much appreciated Blackwater123 (talk) 11:53, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on The Quireboys. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Binksternet (talk) 14:39, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I’d like to add that we’ve already been in touch with the Wikipedia Response Team about the vandalism back in April to try & get the page temporarily protected or even taken down.

How are we supposed to manage the correct information about our band if we are blocked because of making necessary edits? I was told by the volunteer response team to include citations but I’m now not able to do that. Blackwater123 (talk) 19:04, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I will help keep track of the article for you, as I am familiar with the process of adding citations. Binksternet (talk) 01:21, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The Quireboys and Spike's dismissal

[edit]

Stop removing the Planet Rock citations and associated text about Spike getting fired and the negative reaction of fans.[1] Removal of well-founded negative material is a violation of WP:Neutral point of view which is a hard policy at Wikipedia. Binksternet (talk) 14:47, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Stop putting negative information on our page deliberately trying to discredit the band. There are other sources of information available Blackwater123 (talk) 16:28, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would be happy to see other sources from uninvolved third parties. Not social media stuff. Binksternet (talk) 18:53, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could I ask who you are? I have just tried to add a couple of citations but now appear to be blocked from doing so. The inclusion of cancelled shows in your amend is unnecessary and there is also no mention of the band’s recent shows in France & Sweden or their current US tour. We would like the ability to keep the page up-to-date and are more than happy to provide citations where we can. The amount of vandalism this page has received recently is ridiculous, we have just been making changes to correct what disgruntled fans have been changing. Blackwater123 (talk) 18:59, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry it took me two months to respond. I'm a Wikipedia volunteer who happens to be a live sound guy, familiar with bands and music.
If you can point me to announcements about the band playing Sweden and France, I can help by putting those in the article.
The biggest problem with the article are the many Spike-friendly edits claiming he is taking over the band name. Everything else is minor compared to that. The media do not agree so much with that view, and I want to make sure the media are properly represented. Binksternet (talk) 01:21, 6 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
