Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Houseofhelmet, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page User:Houseofhelmet/sandbox, seem to be advertising or for promotional purposes. Wikipedia does not allow advertising. For more information on this, please see:

If you still have questions, there is a new contributors' help page, or you can click here to ask a question on your talk page. You may also find the following pages useful for a general introduction to Wikipedia:

I hope you enjoy editing Wikipedia! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Feel free to write a note on the bottom of my talk page if you want to get in touch with me. Again, welcome! davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:09, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created User:Houseofhelmet/sandbox, and I noticed that your username, "Houseofhelmet", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:10, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear David, I am changing the username to my name and surname. The activity is Art Gallery, I also removed it from the category Art in Motion. What shall I remove or change more?

November 2020

[edit]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of name and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Orange Mike | Talk 20:15, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

To [[User talk:Orangemike| and [[User talk:SQL| here are my answers to your questions: 1- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement. House of Helmet Gallery is looking for a financial partnership, how about Wikipedia?

2- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked. I understand you wanted me to change my username and I made a proposal "Blue Najette" - Do you accept it? I understand you think I am using your platform to promote House Helmet: such as MOMA, Sothebys, White Cube Gallery, Guggenheim. I understand they are not blocked and I am. I understand that you want a contribution. Thank you for your understanding I have not been paid since more than one year for developing this new concept... Thank you for understanding the text I have posted is only a description of the new concept: An Avant-Garde Art Gallery spreading Diversity and Inclusion awareness with Artwork from Artists around the world through one new media: Art Helmet.

3- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked. I am already in touch with WikiProject Women in Red and I am suppose to get back to her once unblocked and I also have registered to the Meetup Wikimedia NYC.

I am looking forward to read your answer

Wikipedia loves art galleries

[edit]

I noticed you appear to be affiliated with an art gallery.

After you change your username (see above) please read WP:GLAM:

The GLAM–Wiki initiative' ("galleries, libraries, archives, and museums" with Wikipedia; also including botanic gardens and zoos) helps cultural institutions share their resources with the world through collaborative projects with experienced Wikipedia editors.

Wikipedia looks forward to working with representatives from your institution.

Note: I am not involved in the GLAM-Wiki initiative. Your best way to find out how to help is to read the WP:GLAM page linked above. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:15, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That said, if your motivation for editing Wikipedia is to promote your gallery, disregard the invitation above. Wikipedia is specifically not for the purpose of promoting yourself, your organization, or any other topic. If your motivation is to help Wikipedia and its related projects, then you are not only welcome, you are more than welcome. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 20:18, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear David, I understand the institutional representation of Wikipedia. I don't pretend to be MOMA or White Cube Art Gallery (which happen to be on wikipedia too). I do not have intention to use your plateform to sell anything, I am simply making an informative statement of the creation of a new concept since last year: House of Helmet is an Avant-Garde Art Gallery using a different media to present Artists from around the world. Meanwhile I sent an email to permissions-commons@wikimedia.org with the documents you requested (copyrights on the two designs): Centaurissimi and Endless Kiss. Thank you for your interest in our Art Gallery — Preceding unsigned comment added by Houseofhelmet (talkcontribs) Houseofhelmet (talkcontribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic.

Before editing further, read and acknowledge that you have read and, to the extent that they apply to you, abide by Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Paid editing disclosure. Put a note below your request to unblock asking what username you wish to use. Follow all of the other instructions in the pink-orange "block notice" above.
Before continuing to create content, please read Help:About, Help:Your first article, and Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not.
Sorry you got off "on the wrong foot." As long as you learn and abide by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines you should be fine. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:14, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
One more thing - MOST art galleries do NOT meet Wikipedia's "notability" requirement to even qualify to have an article. More about notability can be found in links leading off from the "Help:About" and "Help:My first article" links above. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:17, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am glad we are on the same page now. Please could you explain me the reason why I am getting the following info on the top of my page? I would like to change my ID as you asked: "This user is currently blocked. The latest block log entry is provided below for reference: 20:15, 29 November 2020 Orangemike talk contribs blocked Houseofhelmet talk contribs with an expiration time of indefinite (account creation blocked) {{uw-spamublock}} <!-- Promotional username, promotional edits -->) Tag: Twinkle)" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Houseofhelmet (talkcontribs) 21:28, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

That message is to let you and everyone else who tries to leave you a message know that you are currently blocked, and why. It will go away when you are unblocked.
To be unblocked, read the notes that the blocking administrator left you in the block notice and the notes I left you, then re-do the "{unblock | reason= ... }}" template and replace the "..." with a clear explanation that shows you understand why you are blocked (read the block reason), what you are going to do about it (state that you've read the "Conflict of interest" guidelines and "paid editing" guidelines" and you will comply with them, avoid promotional edits, request a username change), and your requested username. Once unblocked, your first edit should be to comply with the paid-editing disclosure. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:41, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear David, here below is my message addressed to you and to the welcoming GLAM Wiki, which is asking me to change my username (how long does it take to be unblocked so I can change it?): Dear David, I understand the institutional representation of Wikipedia. I understand what you are saying. Please re-read the pink/orange/peach-color block notice higher up on this page. It tells you why you are blocked. It tells you who the blocking administrator is.
Please re-read all of the things I have said to you from the time you got blocked onward.
Please follow the instructions in the "block notice." This will get the attention of either the blocking administrator if he is "watching" this page (see Wikipedia:Watchlist) or, if he isn't, it will get the attention of all administrators who are looking at unblock requests. Until you've shown that you understand why you are blocked and show that you understand what is and is not allowed here, it is unlikely you will be unblocked. Also, I am not an administrator, I couldn't unblock you even if I wanted to. Even if I were one, I wouldn't do so without seeking input from the administrator who blocked you, as it would be impolite, not to mention a violation of "administrator's rules," to do so. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 02:03, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear David, I received a message from Wiki Medias Commons refusing the agreements I sent for the right of use of photos: they did not read it obviously as they are saying the agreement are for a limited time. -> I have written an article with my lawyer to be able to use the design even after a rupture of contract as Archive. To whom shall I speak please if you are not able to read the full contracts I am sending to you? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Houseofhelmet (talkcontribs) 21:30, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

First, a disclaimer: I am not a lawyer.
I don't know enough about how the Commons handles donating copyrighted materials to address the question. My best guess is that you should ask the people who refused your agreement to clarify what needs to change for them to accept it.
The "easy" solution is for the copyright-owner - which may or may not be you - to publish the material on his own web site under a Commons-compatible license. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 22:27, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Two reasons: -Promotional username, I have made a proposal of another one "Blue Najette" -Promotional edits, this is not precise at all, whatever I should change or remove, and I am obviously ready to do so, but I am not able to change it as I am being blocked to edit my own page.

Singing messages

[edit]

On "talk" and other discussion pages, it's customary to "sign" your messages by putting four tildes at the end. When you preview or publish your edit, they will be expanded into your "signature." See Wikipedia:Signatures for details. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 21:44, 29 November 2020 (UTC) Hi David, can we remove all the content above as it is clarified between us? That will makes the page much more easy to read and understand: -The username is changed -I use now free copyright photos I have uploaded on wikimedia with a text description of the original concept and invention/prototype.[reply]

[edit]

I was wrong to tell you to open a new unblock request. Admins, please don't hold the double-request for unblock against him, that was my fault.

I saw your unblock reasons in your edit of 12:21, 1 December 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Note: I am NOT an administrator, but I am going to give you my personal reply, which has no more weight than that of any other regular editor.

"1- Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement."

If you have been paid for or expect someday to be paid by House of Helmet Gallery as a result of editing here, you are a paid editor.

"2- Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked."

"I understand you wanted me to change my username and I made a proposal "Blue Najette" - Do you accept it?"

The username issue has been resolved by the global rename.

"I understand you think I am using your platform to promote House Helmet: such as MOMA, Sothebys, White Cube Gallery, Guggenheim."

Well, *I* think you are here in part to promote House of Helmet Gallery and its works. I'm not sure why you mentioned the other museums. I also can't speak for other editors or for administrators.

"I understand they are not blocked and I am."

I'm not sure who "they" are - museums and art galleries don't have accounts on Wikipedia, although their staff might have accounts for use in their individual capacity as a person, not in their role with the museum. I have no idea of any of the museums listed have staff members who have accounts here, nor do I know if those accounts are or have ever been blocked. Unless they came out and said "I'm an employee of MOMA" (which the must disclose if they are a "paid editor," but otherwise they don't have to), neither I nor any administrator would know who their employer is. If an employee of MOMA wanted to write only about totally unrelated topics - which is a good idea when you have an obvious conflict of interest - there would be no need to disclose their employer and no reason for anyone to be concerned about who their employer is.

"I understand that you want a contribution."

Despite the current "Giving Tuesday" fundraising banner you might have seen, Wikipedia doesn't want "your" money or any other specific person's money. Your rights and privileges on Wikipedia won't change if you don't contribute a dime or if you contribute a hundred million dollars.

"Thank you for understanding the text I have posted is only a description of the new concept: An Avant-Garde Art Gallery spreading Diversity and Inclusion awareness with Artwork from Artists around the world through one new media: Art Helmet."

The relevant guidelines are found at Wikipedia:Notability. Most new concepts are not notable.

"3- Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked."

"I am already in touch with WikiProject Women in Red and I am suppose to get back to her once unblocked and I also have registered to the Meetup Wikimedia NYC."

This sounds good to me. But again, that's not my decision to make. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 18:35, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for your answer David! Such as Wikipedia and Mediapedia and if it does not exist it would make sense to create an "Artpedia", another knowledge that opens the mind...

Hi David, can we remove all the content above in the page as it is now clarified?
That will makes the page much more easy to read, understand and hopefully to be unblocked:
-The username is changed,
-I use now free copyright photos I have uploaded on wikimedia,
-I will send you the text description of the original concept and invention/prototype to review it before I post it. Thanks in advance for your answer!

Please wait until the issues surrounding your block are all resolved and you are unblocked before proceeding. Editing "by proxy" on behalf of a blocked editor would get me blocked. Collaborating as you describe above is likely to get me blocked as well. As far as removing the content on this page, your user page, there are rules that relate to removing block notices and unblock requests related to currently active blocks, so no, you can't remove them. As for removing the rest, in the interest of transparency I would recommend against removing anything that is related to your blocks or the behavior that led to it or how you are responding to it until after you are unblocked. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 18:16, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not edit "by proxy" is another one thing not to do! This time I am glad you are telling me before instead of being blocked without notice and time to comprehend the informations and wikipedia's rules and ask for help to correct it, thank you David! That is why from now I am asking you before for anything I would do or change on Wikipedia!

Oh just to be very clear

[edit]

I will not take any action that will be seen as "endorsing" promotional editing. Once you are unblocked I will give technical advice and assist you in following the rules, but I am not here to help you "push" a particular topic. To the contrary, I have and will continue to "push" you away from trying to influence the content of Wikipedia, directly or indirectly, in areas in which you have a conflict of interest. For editors like you with a conflict of interest, I recommend reading WP:What Wikipedia is not at least once a day before you start editing Wikipedia. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 🎄 18:22, 12 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
