Colours

[edit]

As you've probably noticed Collectonian has arrived at the One foot in the Grave pages. Do you think the new colour scheme i added (before it was reverted by Collectonian) was better? i think the multiple colour scheme with greens is a little too bright and distracting for readers. Thanks for your time! Edito*Magica (talk) 21:34, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, but thanks for your reply anyway. Edito*Magica (talk) 23:07, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bob, I'm not sure what the problem is/was..? It may have corrected itself by the time I logged in, as the image appears fine to me. I'm updated it within the article. If it still needs intervention, let me know. The JPStalk to me 13:50, 19 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Copy to Wiktionary

[edit]

There is no need to remove the {{prod}} for something that hasn't been transwikied yet. The bot that does the transwikis operates regularly, and will have it transwikied days before and prod nomination expires or not. Were you removing the tag because of that, or because you actually disputed the deletion? Dmcdevit·t 02:51, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Open All Hours theme

Actually the theme tune is by Ascher. I've found a source, which includes some of the score and a midi file sample so you can hear it yourself :) Ged UK (talk) 20:50, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to I bother you. I'm here just to notify that I added my response to your response.

Have finished. I don't think there's much to do, but I'll put it on hold until you can take a look at it. Cheers. --Rodhullandemu 17:44, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Hello Bob Castle, I had a look through your recent contributions, and after my review, I noticed that you occasionally revert vandalism. Would you like me to grant your account rollback rights to allow you to revert vandalism more easily? Acalamari 21:06, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback granted. :) Just remember that rollback should only be used for reverting vandalism/blatant spam, and should not be used to revert good-faith edits, and is not for revert-warring either. For practice, you may wish to see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 21:25, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome! Acalamari 21:28, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Get Carter

[edit]

Hi Bob, there is no dispute about the book's setting, I have a copy and it is Doncaster, but don't take my word please search the web and you will find loads of references to it being so. The dispute is to whether the one armed bandit killings were an influence 88.108.139.216 (talk) 15:19, 28 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Tony Mason Updates

[edit]

Dear Bob,

many thanks for your help with the updates I posted for Tony Mason's page today. Being a complete newcomer to Wikipedia, and fully paid-up technophobe, I appreciate all the help I can get. All the information I posted was given to me directly by the subject, so I wondered if the bits you deleted could be included again, within Wikipedia regulations of course? If I could work out how to do it I'd add a citation reference to Tony's media profile document, but in the interim, please be assured that the information I posted was not based upon personal recollection or interpretation, but given to me directly by the subject. Apologies if this is not the 'right' way to open this exchange, as I said, it's all abit strange and overwhelming for me.

Kind regards.

Tony Mason

[edit]

Hi Bob,

I've no idea if this is the right way to keep the conversation going, but it worked last time. Many thanks for making the changes. All I've got to work from at the moment is a copy of his regular PR profile document, which I was asked to quote verbatim, so it would probably be cited as personal reference Tony Mason. Are such personal references acceptable? Tony and I did this update literally this afternoon, not really expecting everything to work the way it did. I have agreed with him that we'll try and get a couple of pictures in at a future point in time, and then I'll press him to give me more extensive data. For instance, I'd like to include some more details of his ralling career, but if you can think of anything else that might be worth putting in, please let me know, and I'll take it up with him next time we sit down to discuss his entry.

Many thanks for all your help and understanding - it reads so much better now, I think - and kind regards

Hello Bob,

It's not a big thing but you have deleted references to the site aboutcards.blogspot.com on the above pages.

The site in question is referenced many many times elsewhere on Wikipedia within pages as a reference source (which is the mission of the web site in question). Did you visit the site in question before deleting the two references to it ?

Why the deletions ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.71.111.161 (talk) 18:23, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the fact of the matter is that I have postcard on my watchlist, and we get loads of spam on there, so I tend to remove anything by editors (particularly anonymous IP editors such as yourself) purely adding external links without using them to reference anything (see the notice attached), and I tend to remove them without even looking now. Perhaps if you would be able to use this website to cite some of the facts on the encyclopedia page, that might be good. Feel free to ask other editors' opinions about the inclusion of your link on the talk page. Thanks. Bob talk 23:11, 10 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the reply Bob, it's appreciated. The anonyymous edit was added in haste & with the very best of intention,it'scertainly not spam, I couldn't remember my account details. Elsewhere on Wiki content and image files have been lifted from my site (no problem where a reference to the source was mentioned), guess I was thinking that what others can do..... Kind regards, Linda —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.67.36.214 (talk) 18:00, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AC 428 Frua deletion this a.m.

[edit]

Hi there,

Totally new to Wikipedia from this side of the fence as of this morning, perhaps a little less confused than I was then and I hope finally at the right door re. the deletion of the AC 428 Frua Register earlier today ?

Can you help please ?

Thanks

428fan 428fan (talk) 17:08, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi not a problem I'm just a long term keen fan of the 428.

However for the record if you look more closely you'll see that it's not a forum at all as no members or postings are allowed. Instead it's one that's been converted into a Register in order to accurately hold a lot of useful historical information including colour pics of nearly every 428 ever made for Archive and general Reference purposes only. Most of which I've never seen anywhere before. This is why I thought it would be of interest to other fans too, plus mercifully it's all in the Queen's English ! However of far greater importance if you click on the AC Owner's Club Forum link along the top bar you'll discover that nearly all of the info is largely AC Owner's Club (UK) sourced as many forum members are owners of 428's with pics of their cars on display as well. For example check CF 64 which is currently undergoing a full restoration plus pics in Australia, or MA 200 at the top of page 3 which was the first prototype for the 428 also undergoing a pictorial restoration in the USA.

As I said loads of info I've never seen before. Unfortunate.

Cheers 428fan (talk) 11:33, 12 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again

Will this do ?

http://ac428.zoomshare.com/

Thanks 428fan (talk) 08:51, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

OK thanks. Checked your references but just so I understand clearly.

Good references

"A reference must be accurate, i.e. it must prove the statement in the text. To validate "Mike Brown climbed Everest", it's no good linking to a page about Everest, if Mike Brown isn't mentioned, nor to one on Mike Brown, if it doesn't say that he climbed Everest. You have to link to a source that proves his achievement is true."

Not exactly clear how or where the two external links at the bottom of the page "prove the statement in the text" about the AC 428 Frua ? For example "Invasion of the Earthmen"....?

Thanks 428fan (talk) 17:25, 17 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More Horowitz Horror ‎

[edit]

I'm sure the author is notable, but is this book? I think not, as there are precisely zero references to reviews, critical disucssions, prizes, awards, film or TV adaptations, syllabus adoptions ... I also suggest that the author is not yet notable enough that any work is intrinsically article-worthy. In short, it looks to me as if this article does not satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (books). Richard Pinch (talk) 06:21, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is still notability. Could you make it clear how either of these books satisfies the criteria at the article I mentioned above? Richard Pinch (talk) 15:38, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

britcom - external links

there is one entry saying British Sitcoms ForumBritish Sitcoms Forum

I would like to include www.britcomvideos.com - why is it being deleted all the time? Aren't external links serving this exact purpose? If forums are OK (and I think they are), why a video site (ad-less, with growing and comprehensive british comedy series videos), is being deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Itweb (talkcontribs) 03:06, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
