Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Employee2302fromUberOfficial. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Uber, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Theroadislong (talk) 11:59, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You were warned and refused to declare your conflict of interest, as required by WP:COI. As such, I have blocked this account indefinitely. WP:GAB will explain to you how to craft an unblock request. --Yamla (talk) 12:51, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Not paid by Uber I was just editing the article I did not know that I was not allowed to edit the Uber article and I will never edit Uber article again Employee2302fromUberOfficial (talk) 16:43, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Accept reason:

Below, you agree to refrain from writing about ride share companies, including (but not limited to) Uber and Lyft. Note that in my opinion, you would be within policy (now that you have declared your conflict of interest) to suggest edits to Uber and Lyft, on the talk pages belonging to the articles. More so for Uber than for Lyft, assuming you are an employee. On the other hand, you'll want to be a bit careful with edits to automative articles unrelated to Uber. For example, Waymo is pretty directly in competition to Uber, so you'd have a conflict there. Note if you are just a driver for Uber rather than an employee of the organisation (and yes, I'm aware this distinction is being challenged in the courts), that reduces your conflict of interest and would be worth your while to explicitly point out. Anyway, in summary... thanks for declaring your conflict of interest and agreeing to avoid direct edits to articles for which you have a conflict. I have lifted your block, welcome back! Yamla (talk) 19:31, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What will you edit about if unblocked, since you are agreeing to not edit about Uber? 331dot (talk) 17:16, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Automotive articles unrelated to Uber and I will also not edit any other ride share company like Lyft.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Employee2302fromUberOfficial (talkcontribs)

Yamla Is agreeing to not edit about the rideshare industry sufficient, or would you like to see something more(or oppose outright)? 331dot (talk) 17:53, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • What will you change your username to? Your current name is unacceptable because it indicates you are an employee or otherwise affiliated with Uber. —C.Fred (talk) 18:36, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I wondered about that, but they declared a COI with Uber, so I assumed they are an Uber driver, though not specifically paid by Uber to edit here. 331dot (talk) 18:40, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
