A belated welcome![edit]

Sorry for the belated welcome, but the cookies are still warm!

Here's wishing you a belated welcome to Wikipedia, Brownbarons. I see that you've already been around a while and wanted to thank you for your contributions. Though you seem to have been successful in finding your way around, you may benefit from following some of the links below, which help editors get the most out of Wikipedia:

Also, when you post on talk pages you should sign your name using four tildes (~~~~); that should automatically produce your username and the date after your post.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page, consult Wikipedia:Questions, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there.

Again, welcome! Yngvadottir (talk) 19:11, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Brownbarons, I'm really sorry no one has welcomed you yet (although I do see the bot invited you to the Teahouse, at least). You seem to have been finding your way around, and thank you for contributing. But in regards to deletion nominations, let me encourage you to make sure you are aware of the notability rules and guidelines, in particular that general notability - that is to say, extensive independent coverage in reliable sources - trumps specialist guidelines like WP:CORP. It's important to remember this because new editors may not be aware of niceties that would make the pages they create more impressive and make it easier to tell whether the topic is notable - as appears to have happened at Caseable, where the creator used bare URLs but actually has several suitable references, but from their comments at the AfD they appear to think notability = interest or originality. It saves everybody time if the nominator does a good job checking an article before nominating it for AfD; and it also minimizes how scary we are to new contributors who start by making a new article. I hope this makes sense to you, still you are still fairly new yourself. Let me know either here or at my talk page if you need me to explain with more or fewer links!
