Your contributed article, Norðurpóllinn

[edit]

Hello, I notice that you recently created a new page, Norðurpóllinn. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page - IKEA. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will to continue helping improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at IKEA - you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Maashatra11 (talk) 23:41, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from Norðurpóllinn, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.--109.66.5.26 (talk) 23:34, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Norðurpóllinn. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you.--Maashatra11 (talk) 23:39, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is the final warning you will receive for your disruptive edits.
The next time you remove a speedy deletion notice from a page you have created yourself, as you did with Norðurpóllinn, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Maashatra11 (talk) 23:40, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A note

[edit]

I have deleted the above article noting that if was a good faith attempt to improve wikipedia. However, please do consider that new wikipedia articles must establish notability of the subject and provide reliable references for that. Materialscientist (talk) 00:48, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for repeated abuse of editing privileges. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first.

--PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:00, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

It was my first article on wikip so I didn't know what I was doing wrong. Now I know, so unblock me

Decline reason:

You were given numerous warnings to stop. You won't be unblocked if you intend to recreate the article you were blocked for creating multiple times. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:18, 10 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Im probably coming too late here, but I think this user may have gotten a bit of a rough welcome. All (or all but one) of those warnings were left by the same person, who later apologized for being too hasty on his own talk page: User_talk:Maashatra11#North_Pole_theater_page. I won't endorse re-creation of the page unless it's notable and he can make it all verifiable but I would ask reviewing administrators to review the circumstances that led to the block (if he comes back.) Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

You did some rather dubious editing, but also a few constructive edits, and, on the basis of you undertaking to avoid similar mistakes again, I see no reason you shouldn't be given another chance. Welcome back.

Request handled by: JamesBWatson (talk)

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Ok, let's confirm then:

  • you will not create non-notable pages, as per Wikipedia criteria
  • you will not remove maintenance (such as Speedy Deletion) tags from articles
  • you will respond to attempted discussions on your talkpage
  • you have read and understand the Five Pillars of Wikipedia.

Confirmed. I solemnly swear to respect the five pillars of Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 11:50, 7 September 2010 (talkcontribs) Buibjarmar
