Are you going to write articles on Alma White's other publications? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:20, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Learning the Wikipedia style book takes ages. It is better to concentrate on the scholarly writing and learn the style as you go along. I am amazed when I come across and article I wrote just a few years ago how primitive it looks compared to all the ones I write now with formatted references and infoboxes. I got interested because I drive past the farm, and at first there was nothing on the internet for me to find out about them except their website. Once the New York Times and Time magazine archive came online, I just found more and more. Are you from New Jersey? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 01:51, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Flick

[edit]

Do you have a Flick account? You should always back up all your images to a photo account in case they get deleted at Wikipedia. Its a lot of work to locate and clean up or scan old documents, so make sure they are in at least three places online. Here is mine and one set I use just for a specific topic: Flickr account. I also backup to a blog. If you don't want to set one up, do you want me to? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 00:10, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Clarke

[edit]

It looks like his son died the Church in Colorado in 2003. I asked the library in Denver to forward his obituary. We will have to dig deep to find more on him. I also moved your images into a gallery format, they still need to be cleaned a bit? Are you upset at the move? Images aren't allowed to go past the end of the text, and this is a way to avoid it. I also think you should move a copy of your articles to Knol. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 20:25, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is room for one or two illustrations on each page on the right hand side. When you put them on the left, they cover up part of the text in Firefox and in IE, they have been trying to fix that problem for over a year. You would be the best one to decide which ones to put there. Keep a copy in the gallery too.

Excellent, where did you get the death date from?

Why don't you add his to Findagrave and add the tombstone image there too. The image can go here in the Wikipedia article too. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 21:25, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Check out this new dude: Francis Alphonse Capell.

I have nominated The Ku Klux Klan In Prophecy, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Ku Klux Klan In Prophecy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Dont Despair

[edit]

I'm glad to see you returned and commented on the Afd. It will end in it being kept because of lack of consensus. Wp can be a tough enviroment. This was a content dispute dont take it personally. Its how wiki articles get improvedCathar11 (talk) 23:13, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reason why problems emerged was it appeared as though you were advocating "white suppremacy". On mature reflection I think that the opposite was your point. I think the articles required a context. I can be an aggressive and overzealous editor having locked horns with some contentious editors. Onwards and upwards. Buz, I have no problem with your work. I was an editor just passing by that Klan article when I saw it for the first time the other day. I mentioned how offensive that and some of the other stuff in the article were and you quickly agreed to change it. I have no problem with change. Change is good. Now there's an article And you are lynching Negroes where I periodically stop by to point out that what its editors perceive is a joke is no joke because there's lots of history there that is none too funny. There's little or no change there and I do have a problem with that. And they, in turn, beat me up every time I come around to comment. So, I've learned that change sometimes takes a long time.

On the articles in the Pillar of Fire series, I do think they could usefully be combined, not all of them but some of them. I do think the subject is of historical interest and, if I am anything, it is, like you, a history buff. Combining them would actually make them stronger because it would show the relationships and get rid of the redundancies. Cheers. Skywriter (talk) 01:19, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Violent events

[edit]

What were the "member's role in two violent incidents that occurred near Zarephath, New Jersey, the church's headquarters." I would love to know more, what have you discovered. Were there any newspaper reports? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 07:09, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There aren't many specifics. There are several NYT articles on the May 1923 incident. The only documentation I've seen on the 1915 incident in plainfield was in the book. But there were newspaper stories on it, jut not sure they are online anywhere. I'll send you a scan of a few of the items. Buz lightning (talk) 01:06, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
