Bowling scoring

Can you please edit the Scoring explanation and provide more detail as to what a frame is? I can’t make heads or tails of that section. Thx. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:DB0:5B30:D89A:2B00:4EBD:7F6F (talk) 00:13, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi, thank you for your message. Unfortunately, I'm not an expert on the topic, I've only been bowling a couple of times in my life (and that was more than ten years ago). =) You might get better feedback if you ask it on the article's talk page. byteflush Talk 00:20, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

Hot Chocolate

hey, listen, I'm only adding what is needed to the article about Hot Chocolate. I am actually adding common facts, and I believe you are being picky. Please understand that what you are doing is keeping the honest facts from the world. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.96.112.14 (talk) 21:38, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

I really don't see how this was constructive. I have no opinion on the tea part, though (aside from your yum comment, which also doesn't belong in the article). byteflush Talk 21:47, 8 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi Bytefish! It's good to talk to you again and I hope you're having a good day! I saw this reversion you made, which looked to be good faith editing and not vandalism yet you used rollback to undo the edit and without an edit summary. If you're familiar at all with the editing toolbar located at the top of the body field where changes are made, it's common to accidentally click "Bold" or "Italics" when attempting to click inside the body - I do it occasionally myself and it's understandable that a new user wouldn't notice that (s)he had done so (by default it adds it to the very beginning of the body at the very top, like what happened here). I usually assume this is what happened and just fix it for them and let them know - no big deal ;-). Figured I'd just leave you a message and give you a heads up. That's pretty much it - let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer them. Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:24, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

@Oshwah: Why do people insist on calling me Bluefish? Do I have to rename again? =) First of all, thanks, hope you're having a great day too! Yes, I see your point - I do realize that new editors don't do it to disrupt Wikipedia; though I do AGF, I usually just revert, post a welcome message, or post a uw1 if I think the user just wants to make some test edits (as you know, uw1 is very subtle in mentioning vandalism, but it has a nice sandbox link =)). In this particular case, it's really my mistake - I haven't noticed that the editor also made another change to the page; I've fixed that. I usually Huggle such edits and post talk messages later because of some vandalism tactics I noticed (of course, I don't want to spill the WP:BEANS). Thanks for the heads up, and if you notice any other problem with my edits, please do message me here. byteflush Talk 01:45, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
Sorry for the screw-up with your username - I was being absent-minded and entered what I thought I read. It's one of those days again... lol. Cool, no worries. Just figured I'd let you know. Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:49, 9 March 2018 (UTC)
I'm still a fish, though, it seems. =) Won't ping you again on this topic, no big deal. I just need a more conventional username. =) Thank you for your help, and sorry that you have to remind me of policies and guidelines so often. And yeah, it's one of those days here too, so I better just go get some sleep. =) byte flush Talk 01:55, 9 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi! You're probably asking about the notice I left on your talk page in January regarding this edit to Freddie Ladapo. That happened five months ago, and if you didn't make the edit in question, it's probably because your ISP assigns dynamic IP addresses - that is, your IP address changes over time, so it may have been some other user that had your current IP address at the time. Nothing to worry about, anyway. =) byteflush Talk 13:23, 1 July 2018 (UTC)

@Emilyiship'05: Fine by me. However, it's not like we're silencing you, or banning (exiling) your character - the same rules apply to all articles. Try to focus on other areas on Wikipedia, and you'll probably get the hang of it. Soon you'll begin to understand why your article was inappropriate at the time being. byteflush Talk 01:26, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Map of military occupations

Greetings Byteflush! You may wish to comment on this new discussion regarding the map of current military occupations. Ping did not work because I copied your user name from your signature, and the mixed case fucked it up. — JFG talk 14:53, 10 July 2018 (UTC)

Hey, I'd appreciate a second opinion on the above. There is a find sources template on the article talk, but I'm not seeing notability. He was acting commissioner of the RCMP for about a year, and his appointment was not without controversy, but most of what is written is about his predecessor. I think this is a pretty clear ANYBIO fail. John from Idegon (talk) 23:10, 25 July 2018 (UTC)

@John from Idegon: I just noticed that the article has been previously speedy-deleted and then restored, so I withdrew my CSD. Didn't get a chance to look at the sources too much (just clicked the find sources link on talk page). I'll take a better look now and let you know. byteflush Talk 23:14, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
@John from Idegon: After taking a quick look, it looks like you're right - there is no in-depth coverage of Dan Dubeau‎ in any reliable sources, but he did get a lot of publicity because of nepotism and harassment controversies (among others). While that doesn't make him notable, ANYBIO does say Failure to meet these criteria is not conclusive proof that a subject should not be included, while BASIC says If the depth of coverage in any given source is not substantial, then multiple independent sources may be combined to demonstrate notability, but trivial coverage of a subject by secondary sources may not be sufficient to establish notability.
I think this is an edge case, so an AfD may be better suited than a speedy deletion. byteflush Talk 23:26, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
Thanks! I will nominate it. John from Idegon (talk) 23:39, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
No prob! =) I didn't have much time to check it out further right now, almost 2am here. Hope my opinion helped. byteflush Talk 23:41, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
It did. There is a user competence issue involved, and I tend to be a deletionist, so I just wanted someone else to look. John from Idegon (talk) 23:51, 25 July 2018 (UTC)
And I ended up at the AfD until 3:30am. Well... My boss is gonna kill me. =) byteflush Talk 01:31, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, not sure why you reverted my edit as it was essentially correct, have experimentally tested many of the modifications. In fact I am in the process of testing them on an Eee dual core netbook so may be writing these up somewhere (probably Hackaday) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 185.3.100.20 (talk) 19:48, 28 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, and thank you for messaging me. I reverted you back in January because you added unsourced claims to the article. While it may be true, and you may have done the necessary research, there is no way for us to verify it since it's not published in any reliable source. Please note that original research is not allowed on Wikipedia. We are only here to summarize what other sources say about a topic, not to do our own investigations and experiments. I realize your edits were done in good faith, and it's great that you wanted to add more info that you were aware of, but Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Every claim should (ideally) be backed by a reliable source. byteflush Talk 00:46, 29 July 2018 (UTC)

Serbian language

OK, I understand your revert, but if you see the table you can confirm it is truth. Serbs within the A-H empire spoke Serbo-Croatian often using Latin alphabet, and while Croats stick to their traditional writing, Serbs adoped Gajs reforms earlier. Unfortunatelly Serbian schollars focus only on Serbian writen in what was then Serbia, so they miss the entire reality of the huge population of Serbs living under Habsburgs, and if dealing with them, focus only in eclesiastic scripts which were obviously in Old Slavic, but missing the ordinary life of Serbs and its cosutumes. I will further expand that matter in future with time. Best regards, FkpCascais (talk) 01:28, 30 August 2018 (UTC)

@FkpCascais: I do admire your work, and I thought twice (or more) before reverting. I looked at Serbian Latin and Gaj articles too, and couldn't find a source, so I had no other option. If you provide a ref to go along with the edit, I won't mind. Remember - even if it's obvious to us, it needs to be verifiable by a reader that stumbled upon the article. =)
Also, you should probably remove interestingly, as it may seem like editorializing.
Best wishes, byteflush Talk 01:34, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
Many thanks for your kind words. I know, you are right. :D The problem is that no one is much interested into this; Serbs are too focused on Cyrillic, while Croats treat Gajs Latin as unquestionably their own. However, that table shows something I actually noteced a time ago in some pamphlets from 19 century written ammong Serbian communities in Vojvodina and Military Frontier which used Latin alphabet which included Gajs reforms (Dj, Lj, Nj). But yes, I lack a direct reliable source. I haven´t got time to dedicate myself more seriously to this, but I do wish to do it, at least to confirm if that is really right (that Serbian community within A-H started using Gajs Latin before Croatian language officially addopted it). I somethimes dedicate seriously to some matters, but in others I am just bold and in those I am very open minded and easy to go, as in this case, and here it was really nice we got to know one another, please ping me anytime if ever you feel, I will gladly collaborate and help if I can. Srdacan pozdrav! FkpCascais (talk) 02:18, 30 August 2018 (UTC)
@FkpCascais: Thank YOU, and sorry we had to meet like this. I'll also be on the lookout for sources when I have the time (spoiler alert: I'm usually pretty low on time). I live in Vojvodina, so it might be a bit easier to find, but still - harder to cite. Well, hope to work with you in the future. Sve najbolje, i prijatan dan. =) byteflush Talk 01:26, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

Messages you left me on my talk page.

Hi. I noticed you left me 2 messages on my talk page, 1 each on the 18th of January 2018 and 1st of February that year relating to some edits, which I noticed you disagreed to (no offence). With the one you sent me earlier, I was thinking of adding a list of famous people who died of the diseases you can get eating the mushroom that the article the message said I made that edit in was talking about, with Bobby Fischer in 1st priority (ironically I don't know of any other famous people who would have died that way). With the other one, I wasn't trying to commit vandalism on Wikipedia. Somehow I thought of mentioning TheRichest (a YouTube Channel) talking about people trying to do everything possible in a game before it's released (including all the ways of losing). In other words, I wasn't trying to be unconstructive, but I think those edits weren't such a good idea either in the form they were made in. Thank you.123.243.100.66 (talk) 01:24, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Picture

Dear,

Please do not vandalize picture on page "Economy of Serbia". The picture you have posted is National Bank of Serbia and it's great, but keep in mind that it's not really reputable & depicting reality of Serbia, plus it's 3 years old. Picture I posted contains much more landmarks/buildings that represent economic performance of Serbia. If needed I'll gladly send you addressess of each building from the picture, because I believe you have some kind of doubt. It is in benefit of page viewers to see more thus picture I have posted is more suitable. National Bank of Serbia is surely something we need on Economics page, but could you put it in the article somewhere instead of forcing it to be the main picture, despite the fact that a fresh one I have posted is more attractive & infographic. I appreciate your honour as an old member, but please do only to benefit viewers, and it's in benefit of readers to have better visual presence.

Thank you, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.189.232.73 (talk) 05:05, 7 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for the explanation. I thought the NBS photo was better since it represents the economy in a more direct way; I don't think the collage of Belgrade pictures is representative of the Economy of Serbia. Serbia is more than just Belgrade, but - of course - it's more than the NBS building, too. Since I have no strong preference either way, I'm not going to revert any more, nor will I argue for the NBS photo. I'm going to let this pass, but please do not accuse other editors of vandalizing an article when it's clearly not the case here. byteflush Talk 23:20, 7 June 2020 (UTC)
