[edit]The intro could be strengthened more. Here you can specify as to why the Oklahoma Aulacogen is a significant geological features. Could also mention its economic significance(just a mention...later in the significance part you could add in some detail.
Description: You could describe an Aulacogen elsewhere or link it. Here it disrupts the flow of this section going form Aulacogens in general to the Oklahoma Aulacogen.
Tectonic Evolution: Looking good. Could smooth it out and strengthen it more. Check out AAPG Memoirs 51 Interior Cratonic Basins. In this book, there will be some info as to generally set up the initiation of these failed rift structures throughout North America in the Cambrian - PC.
Significance: Add in detail about the amount of oil / gas recovered and what were some major break through in this basin for exploration? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ajamesm28 (talk • contribs) 23:47, 13 October 2014 (UTC)

[edit]The intro, is a little short, and I feel that you may benefit from moving the lower description to the beginning intro. Aulacogen is a funny word, a speech pronunciation box would be a great addition, I was just hung up on thinking about the word the entire read. The hyper link last words in the last sentence, "..and Hardeman Basin." are broken, or the page does not exist for it.
Statistics about the region - area's size, length and width, volume of rock, etc. - are welcoming and easily understood; they'll look great in a high-school science paper. To add to that, maybe ages in the parentheses next to the geologic ages you listed will keep readers on your page and in the flow of reading.
Another thing that would really enhance conveying the history to readers would be pictures. You have a solid picture of the region you're studying, but you could include some helpers like a scale bar and North arrow to guide our international readers. The two other pictures I see are in development, nice. If you're not working on one at the moment, I think a step by step evolution of the development of the failed rift would go a long way.
The References area a little funky, but so are mine (lemme know if you figure the problem out).
Overall seems like you got a good handle of the topic and I'm looking forward to your diagrams. I guess closing advice would be to follow K.I.S.S..

[edit]Intro
[edit]Intro is a bit on the small side, Borrow info from the description to beef it up. You may want to use an infobox like the one I have (nuvvuagittuq greenstone belt). It is a really nice touch and looks clean.
description
[edit]You use arms a lot, ultimately becomes confusing for the reader. Probably ought to include some kind of map of the Lapetus ocean, you could even use their map!
tectonic evolution
[edit]I like the image, but make it bigger!
mafic and felsic rocks
[edit]I would love to see a petrographic map of the mountains, or even a subset. I know those are hard to get public domain, but see what you can do!
general
[edit]The content is great, but it is a big wall of text, break it up a bit to make it less aesthetically intimidating

File permission problem with File:Geologicmap.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Geologicmap.png. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

DYK for Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen
[edit]On 3 January 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that the Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen contains over 250,000 km3 (60,000 cu mi) of igneous rock, including a multitude of gabbros? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Southern Oklahoma Aulacogen. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |
