A tag has been placed on Draft:Computer Components Limited (CCL), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ~~2NumForIce (speak|edits) 02:25, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

September 2023[edit]

Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Seraphimblade Talk to me 04:15, 24 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

I understand the reason for blocking my account and that it appeared as though it was going to be used for advertising or promotion due to the username. To rectify this, I will request a change in my username.
Regarding the article, my goal is to provide useful information about Computer Components Ltd and its 25-year history so that everyone interested can find out more about the company similar to Chip 1 Exchange, which is a similar company to Computer Components Ltd. The article is not and never will be used for any promotional purposes.
Before submitting the draft for review, the article will be freely licensed, use neutral language, and be well-referenced. The article will be written explicitly for Wikipedia and fully comply with the rules (i.e., neutral-point-of-view, informational, not promotional, well-referenced, and any compensation received will be disclosed).
As an employee of the company, I understand there may be a conflict of interest, and I will notify the admins about it.
Please note that the article still needs to be completed or ready to be sent for review and I will not repeat the kind of edits that led to my account becoming blocked.
I want to contribute to the Wikipedia community by posting an article page about Computer Components Ltd (CCL) to inform interested parties about our company and allow them to use it freely. For example, a college student writing an essay about local businesses in Devon could learn more about CCL, how the company works in the area, and the charity events that the CCL team regularly have at the business. Furthermore, with expertise in the electronic components field, I can help edit other articles related to electronic components, so they stay accurate as the market is constantly changing. Decline reason:

You have some misunderstandings about Wikipedia. You say you won't be promotional right after you describe a promotional purpose. "Promotion" has a broader meaning here- it is not limited to solicitation or selling something. Wikipedia is not a place for companies to tell the world about themselves, what they do, and what they see as their own history- you should do that on your company website and social media accounts. Articles are typically written by independent editors wholly unconnected with the subject. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia with criteria for inclusion, which we call notability- such as the definition of a notable company. An article about a company must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the company, showing how it meets that notability definition. "Significant coverage" goes beyond merely documenting the activities of the company and goes into detail about what the source sees as important/significant/influential about the company. Press releases, the company website, interviews, announcements of routine activities, and the like do not establish notability. We are going to want to see an edit history of edits in areas unrelated to your COI before permitting you to create and submit a draft about your company- as our experience tells us that letting you dive right in would be a waste of time for everyone, including you. If your only goal here is to edit about your company, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in being a more general contributor, please tell what topics you might edit about. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 08:01, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello 331dot and thank you for explaining this to me. I have noticed that Chip 1 Exchange, successfully have a Wikipedia page. Can you please guide me and give me pointers to be able to do the same? This is not a promotion, and I would like that to be clear on our page. Thank you.
