Draft:Pont Sainte-Anne

[edit]

The source of the copyvio is no longer online, nor could I find it at the Internet Archive or through the source site's archive of past issues. You wouldn't happen to have a local copy that you downloaded would you? -- Whpq (talk) 14:55, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Someone else already deleted the article, though you can see a cached version of the source on Turnitin here (if you log in through CopyPatrol) if you're curious. C F A 💬 21:10, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from BobOfCoolness (19:54, 2 November 2024)

[edit]

Hello! I am wondering many things about how to edit. 1. How do I insert links to other articles? 2. How do I create a new article? 3. How can I translate an article into a language that I do not speak?

Thank you for your help! --BobOfCoolness (talk) 19:54, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BobOfCoolness, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'll answer your questions below:
  1. I see you're using the Visual Editor. To add links to the other articles, follow the steps at Help:VisualEditor#Editing links — there should be a "link" icon in the toolbar.
  2. To create a new article, you can use the Article Wizard. I see you've already submitted Draft:RobertIDK for review, but it was declined for lacking citations. I suggest reading Referencing for Beginners to learn how to cite sources Wikipedia-style.
  3. You probably shouldn't. Machine translations are rarely a good idea, particularly if you have no way to review the output.
Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing, C F A 💬 23:12, 2 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Autspectorder (12:52, 3 November 2024)

[edit]

Is there a tool like Citation Hunt, but for original research? --Autspectorder (talk) 12:52, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think so, but you can use this link to find a random article that is tagged as containing original research. C F A 💬 15:05, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from BobOfCoolness (15:27, 3 November 2024)

[edit]

As you told me in a previous message, you saw my article got rejected first. Now, it got rejected again for a lack of reliable sources. I spent a long time searching for these sources and I worked hard on writing this. Is there a way you can help or tell me what I need to add and what counts as a ‘reliable source’? --BobOfCoolness (talk) 15:27, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BobOfCoolness, Draft:RobertIDK still has no references. Have you read Referencing for Beginners? It's important to make sure that all information can be verified using reliable, published sources. You should also take a look at Wikipedia's notability guidelines for people — the criteria which determines whether the subject qualifies for an encyclopedia article. C F A 💬 17:42, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Paul S. Flores, feedback needed

[edit]

Hello,

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my article. I am hoping that you can offer further insight so that I might get it published down the road. The note said that the notable works and grants were completed unsourced but I did place reference sources for all of them. Is there a different way to source them? Please do let me know. In addition to this, it said that he may not be notable enough to warrant a wikipedia page, how might you recommend strengthening his notability? Thank you kindly for your help here! {{Ping|CFA}} Bliss.Rios (talk) 17:09, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bliss.Rios, I reviewed your draft when it looked like this. I see you've since added more references and have submitted it for review — another reviewer will hopefully check it out soon. In the meantime, can you tell me which part of Wikipedia:Notability (people) is satisfied? Happy editing, C F A 💬 17:48, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Paul S. Flores qualifies as notable under the given premises:
The person has created or played a major role in co-creating a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. In addition, such work must have been the primary subject of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews, or of an independent and notable work (for example, a book, film, or television series, but usually not a single episode of a television series
In addition to this category he has won multiple awards and grants which were listed as one of the notability factors. Thank you kindly! Bliss.Rios (talk) 19:51, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from BKetching1 (06:50, 4 November 2024)

[edit]

Hey I have been trying to figure out the sandbox feature all night. I think I published my sandbox but can't get to a sandbox tab/don't even know how the page functions.

Would you be able to instruct me how to access/edit my sandbox page? --BKetching1 (talk) 06:50, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi BKetching1, and welcome to Wikipedia! Your sandbox is accessible at this link: User:BKetching1/sandbox. You can edit it by clicking the "Edit" button in the top right. Question from Skyscraper Aficionado (21:08, 4 November 2024)

[edit]

Hello, I've created multiple Wikipedia articles and was wondering how to go about creating proper talk pages for them. Could you offer any assistance? --Skyscraper Aficionado (talk) 21:08, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Skyscraper Aficionado, most reviewers add relevant WikiProject banners (e.g. {{WikiProject Architecture}}) to the top of the talk page. For example, I added {{WikiProject North Carolina}} and {{WikiProject Skyscrapers}} to Talk:FNB Tower Charlotte. I also rated it as start-class. You might be interested in installing the Rater tool which automates a lot of this. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 00:43, 5 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Comment about Teahouse

[edit]

Hey, the contentious topic WP:A/I/PIA is about the conflict, not Israel in general. Sure their question is not to do with editing, but please don't stonewall them for the wrong reason. Personally I don't like the WP:ARBECR summary either, takes too many extra clicks for the person to find out what the contentious topic actually is. – 2804:F1...4A:3386 (talk) 01:39, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No, ARBECR applies to their comments. "Broadly construed" includes Zionism and the like. I left a message on their talk page explaining it to them. C F A 💬 01:43, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
... it applies to Zionism? News to me, the 'Definition of the "area of conflict"' says nothing about it. I'd appreciate it if you could show me evidence of it applying, though only if you have it on hand as I do not really need it seeing as I will not be contributing to this topic area (I just have never heard of this part). – 2804:F1...4A:3386 (talk) 01:47, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not really sure what you're looking for, but historically it has been interpreted that broadly. Zionism is EC-protected, for example. Their comments were just forum-y complaining regardless, but I'm not planning on edit-warring over it. C F A 💬 01:53, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well, what I would be looking for is something that includes Zionism as part of the contentious topic (as in talking about Zionism is part of the topic, which is what I thought you were saying).
Is that not what you were saying? – 2804:F1...4A:3386 (talk) 02:03, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that's what I was saying. C F A 💬 02:12, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Huh, alright, other people have agreed. If Arbcom wasn't the most bureaucratic part of Wikipedia I'd have suggested adding that to the notice, but it is so *shrug*, guess it will just be potentially surprising like that to people who do not know much about the conflict.
Thanks for explaining. – 2804:F1...4A:3386 (talk) 02:46, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
