Figure inflation

[edit]

Please do not increase sales figures in articles without providing sources that match the increase.—Kww(talk) 01:22, 25 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of Best Selling Singles

[edit]

Hello. "My Heart Will Go On" was released in 1997, not 1998. Wikipedia's article reflects that fact. We note the year a record was first released, not the year the song enjoyed its greatest success. Further, the reference given—Dion's own site—claims it sold more than 10 million, not more than 12 million. Three times you have edited this list to incorrectly push back the date and raise the sales claim. Three times I and another editor have reverted your edits with an WP:Edit Summary explaining why. By repeatedly introducing unsupported claims that are not supported by the references, and doing so with no edit summary or talk page discussion to introduce additional sourcing, despite being reverted repeatedly, your edits are bordering on vandalism. Please stop. Thanks, Abrazame (talk) 06:47, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  1. Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to List of highest-grossing films, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Please don't alter the tally of a film, when it doesn't reflect Box Office Mojo's gross.--Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 06:50, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles, as you did to List of best-selling singles worldwide. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.--Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 06:55, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  3. Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by adding your personal analysis or synthesis into articles, as you did to Honorific nicknames in popular music, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 07:14, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  4. This is the only warning you will receive. Your recent vandalism will not be tolerated. Although vandalizing articles on occasions that are days or weeks apart from each other sometimes prevents editors from being blocked, your continued vandalism constitutes a long term pattern of abuse. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Cinemaniac86Dane_Cook_Hater_Extraordinaire 07:14, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

[edit]

I have blocked you indefinetly. Overlooking your edits, they seem to change figures - I guess as an attempt at vandalism. Take this edit, your change contradicts the cited source, and it wastes editor's time fixing these changes. If you wish to discuss the matter I am more than happy to, you can post a message here I will be watching.--Commander Keane (talk) 09:40, 7 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
