[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Mycotoxin has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.knowmycotoxins.com (matching the regex rule \bknowmycotoxins\.com\b).
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Hi Centregal09, and thanks for your interest in Wikipedia. User talk:A. B. is busy in real life at the moment, so I'll try to answer myself. Wikipedia generally links to pages that are reliable and neutral, and not to pages that exist primarily to sell a product. According to the website itself, www.knowmycotoxins.com is supported by Alltech Biotechnology, which I presume sells mycotoxin-related products. So knowmycotoxins.com might not be an unbiased reference. Wikipedia's full guideline on external links is at WP:EL.
Hope that helps, Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 14:34, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi Adrian,
Thank you for your response! This does make sense but could you explain to me why the first External link on the mycotoxin page [1] has not been reverted as well? The link, “Experts answer mycotoxin related questions”, links to [2] a YouTube channel which clearly states “sponsored by Biomin” in the upper right hand corner. Biomin is a company which sells mycotoxin related products, as you can see here: [3]. According to your explanation, this link should be reverted as well. I am just trying to understand how this works so that I don't make the same mistake again! Thank you for your help!

[edit]Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Mycotoxin. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Adrian J. Hunter(talk•contribs) 02:28, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
