Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

feel free to contact and advise me here. As I am relatively new, any help is appreciated. Faulty grammar will occur - just keep hitting me, I'll swear it'll get better. A similar page exists in German Wikipedia.

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Chasing officejets. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Draft:Heiner Barz, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. K.e.coffman (talk) 00:34, 20 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dear K.e.coffman, thank you for your advices! Excuse my late answer, but here it is: Unfortunately, the article I submitted in the English Wikipedia is a mere translation of the one in German. I have no further interest to work on this topic / to provide additional sources. If the article is not complying with the standards required, that's it. If I can be of any help now (such as deleting the draft, if required) I'll be glad to do so. In this case, I'd request further advice on how to proceed.

As for the conflict of interest: My closest tie to the subject is my degree from the university he is affiliated. I did a different programme / course of study, so I never had a personal nor an academic relationship to the subject. Since I am interested in the topics he works on in an amateurish way, I stumbled across his work.

Please appreciate that for privacy and anonymity reasons I won't disclose my job or anything. I did not see any users (at least in the German Wikipedia) doing this on their User Pages. If assuring absence of conflict of interests in this or, since it's rejeced anyway, any other case is not enough, I'd be pleased if you could notify me for I can step back from participating in the project Wikipedia. Yours, --Chasing officejets (talk) 14:46, 7 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
