Recent edits[edit]

Hi. I reverted your recent edits to a couple of user pages. I figured that you were just letting off steam, in that it would have been disappointing to see the article on Amita Bajpai deleted. I can understand the sentiment, but I'm afraid that adding inappropriate tags to those user pages will only result in a block, which I don't think would be right - it looks like you were editing in good faith on the article, and it is just unfortunate that the sources weren't there yet for it to be kept. On those grounds I wish you well, but I also have to ask that you don't continue to add speedy deletion tags to the user pages. - Bilby (talk) 11:42, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WANT MY ARTICLE UNDELETED (Cheekubaaj (talk) 12:01, 17 December 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Hi. I'm sorry that the article was deleted, and if I can help I will. However, the problem was that there weren't any sources that discussed Amita Bajpai in detail. Without those sources, we can't create a reliable article on her that we can keep that way - there will always be the possibility that someone will make false claims, and because there is nothing to verify them against, the risk would be that the claims would stay in the article. So one of the rules on Wikipedia is that we can only create articles about people where there is enough that has been published in reliable sources so that we can create a trustworthy (and verifiable) article. It doesn't mean that she isn;t important, or doesn't deserve an article - just that we need the sources in order to write one.
The sources you found were great, but the problem is that they only mentioned her, without giving the sort of detail that is needed. What we're looking for is a couple of paragraphs specifically about her in something like a major newspaper (such as the Times of India), or another respected publication. I'll keep looking, but from what I can tell so far, she is an important person, but there aren't enough to the english-language sources that we need, and I'm afraid I can't help with non-English sources, although if you know of any that would be great as well. (Wikipedia is fine with non-English sources so long as they can be checked by other people). On the plus side, deleting an article now doesn't mean that it can't be added later, when the sources emerge. If the sources we need turn up, we can always recreate the article - even undeleting the current one so that your work isn't lost. We just might have to wait until the right sources come along. - Bilby (talk) 12:56, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Amita Bajpai was deleted as a result of the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Amita Bajpai, and when an article is deleted its talk page is also deleted - if there's no article, we don't need a page to talk about it. Also, please have a read of WP:CIVIL - comments like "..the administrators are becoming brat.." are not going to get you anywhere. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 13:02, 17 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
