Hi, this might seem to come out of the blue but there's a writer who's doing a piece for Rolling Stone who'd like to interview you about an article you wrote. His name is Jose Antonio Vargas; email joseiswriting(at)gmail.com. Please follow up at your earliest convenience. Best regards, Durova33321:02, 23 October 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for this thoughtful note, I appreciate your kind words.I generally respond to questions about Wikipedia articles via this user page rather than email. Since I do not know which article is being referred to here, I have to speak in generalities but while a Wikipedian may initially create an article, Wikipedia:Ownership of articles clarifies the notion of "authorship" on the Wikipedia - all edits are dictated by Wikipedia:Five pillars. I think it might be beneficial for anyone interested in the Wikipedia to first join, study and learn Wikipedia:Five pillars and perhaps edit a few articles to understand the community a bit better. After that point, if there are specific questions about an article, I would be happy to answer them on this page. You might also consider contacting Jimmy Wales, founder of the Wikipedia. I have left a copy of this note on his page as well. Best regards, -Classicfilms (talk) 14:48, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Hi, both Mr. Vargas and I are well aware of the five pillars, etc. (I've contributed featured articles). He's specifically interested in a Wikipedia article where you were the first and the primary editor. Due to the norms of the magazine publishing industry I haven't been more specific about the piece he's writing; major magazines such as Rolling Stone generally expect to be the first publication venue for the pieces they run. It would be up to Mr. Vargas to decide whether to conduct the interview on the terms you prefer; it wouldn't be my place to make that decision because if I erred on the side of saying too much it might disqualify his piece for publication. Thanks, I appreciate the clarification. I also understand the constraints you discuss above, they make perfect sense. I am most comfortable talking about the Wikipedia via this talk page. I understand if that wouldn't work for what you are looking for. In that case, it might make more sense to pick a different article and a different Wikipedian. I do appreciate your interest in my contributions, however. Thanks again, -Classicfilms (talk) 22:19, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
Hello User:Classicfilms. My name is Samir Elsharbaty. I work with the Wikimedia Foundation's communication's team. I'm drafting a blog post about Wonder Woman movie as part of our News on Wikipedia series on the Wikimedia blog. Since you are one of the lead contributors to the page, I was wondering if I can write about your work on this article in my post. If you are OK with that, I will send you some questions and use your answers in my post. Please contact me on selsharbaty(at)wikimedia(dot)org or provide me with a valid email address that I can use to contact you, if you are interested. Thank you! --Selsharbaty (WMF) (talk) 02:33, 10 July 2017 (UTC)
As one of Wikipedia's most experienced editors,
Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After gaining the flag, patrolling is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the tutorial before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere(or here)05:40, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
I recently sent you an invitation to join NPP, but you also might be the right candidate for another related project, AfC, which is also extremely backlogged. Would you please consider becoming an Articles for Creation reviewer? Articles for Creation reviewers help new users learn the ropes of creating their first articles, and identify whether topics are suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. Reviewing drafts doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia inclusion policies and guidelines; currently Wikipedia needs experienced users at this task. (After requesting to be added to the project, reviewing is not mandatory. One can do it at their convenience). But kindly read the reviewing instructions before making your decision. Thanks. — Insertcleverphrasehere(or here)01:34, 29 December 2017 (UTC)
