Fr. O'Flanagan
[edit]Hi Cliffoney. Thank you for the work you have done on the Michael O'Flanagan article, and also for the improvements you made to the History of Sinn Féin and Arthur Griffith articles. Could I ask you, however, to be more selective in the way that you add content on Fr. O'Flanagan into other articles. Some two dozen people were elected to the Sinn Féin executive each year, so stating that Fr. O'Flanagan was elected to it in 1910 exaggerates his importance. Likewise, the fact that he was "appointed" chaplain of the Dáil is relevant to his own biography but insignificant in the history of Sinn Féin. You also have a tendency to hyperlink his name each time it comes up; articles should not be linked more than once. I have reworded some of your other edits to those articles, but the content you added was very useful and very welcome.
On an unrelated note, can I ask you what you use to add citations? The reason I ask is that some of your refs have a feature that I have seen in other edits on other articles, i.e. they say "ref name=:0", when a ref name should always be something intelligible, like the author's name. If I knew what the process was that automatically generates that name, I might be able to get the problem addressed. Thanks. Scolaire (talk) 12:06, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
Hi Scolaire, thank you for that, I shall be more careful. I am not sure what you mean about the ref name, I use the cite panel in wikipedia to add citations.Cliffoney (talk) 17:02, 7 February 2019 (UTC)
- Do you mean that you click "Cite" above the editing box, then the drop-down list "Templates", then "cite book" or whichever, then fill out the fields in the form that comes up? That's what I do, but I've never had that strange ":0" thing come up. I'm referring to this edit, where you wrote, "Griffith was arrested on the pretext that they had conspired with Germany, leaving [[Michael O'Flanagan|Fr. Michael O'Flanagan]] as Acting-President of Sinn Féin", followed by "<ref name=":0">{{Cite book" etc. Can you remember if you put anything in the "Ref name" box to make it do that? If you can't remember, it doesn't matter. I just thought it was a chance for me to track down that particular bug. Regards, Scolaire (talk) 17:57, 7 February 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Disambiguation link notification for October 12
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Creevykeel Court Tomb, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Peabody Museum. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
