License tagging for Image:Rotox front page.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rotox front page.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 22:05, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Hey there. I noticed in your comment on the List of Star Trek novels talk page that you think your style may need changing. Unfortunately, you are correct. Because the information in A Time to Heal is right from the back of the book, it is a copyright violation. The book itself could warrant an article of its own if writtin properly. If you would like to keep the article now, try summarizing the synopsis/plot in your own words and maybe upload an image of the front cover using the {{bookcover}} template in the summary box. As for "Orians Hounds", which is part of the Titan series, it would probably be more beneficial if you worked in the Orian's Hounds section of the Star Trek: Titan article, in order to create a more comprehensive article there, and avoid the creation of stub articles. Hope this helps some, Newnam(talk) 22:04, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Telescope Shops

[edit]

Orion Telescopes] seems to be held in pretty good regard by amateur astronomer communities in America. You may want to start your search there. They have a "product wizard" that can help you select a scope.

When I last researched buying a scope, I recall that there were many tradeoffs in telescope selection. If I recall correctly (and it's been a while) the gross generalizations were as follows:

  • newtonian reflector: simple and easy to produce, so typically of good-excellent quality. usually low cost, but very large size (for magnification achieved)
  • refracting telescope: range of qualities, from very poor to very good. Smaller size, fair-middle cost.
  • catadioptric, like the Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope: low size (for magnification achieved), expensive, tend to range in the fairly good to very good quality.

I also recall that a good telescope mount makes a huge difference in your enjoyment of the device. Invest wisely in a mount that may live through several scopes.

Fair use rationale for Image:A_Time_to_Be_Born.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:A_Time_to_Be_Born.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ↔NMajdantalk 16:16, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proposing merger of Star Trek: A Time... novels

[edit]

Hi, you seem to be interested in these novels. I rescued one stub from proposed deletion today. Would you be prepared to merge the articles? otherwise they will be deleted in time. It will be easier to show notability for the series than for each book. See Category:Star Trek novels. - Fayenatic (talk) 18:00, 11 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
