Speedy deletion of Donor Offspring Health[edit]

A tag has been placed on Donor Offspring Health, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read our the guidelines on spam as well as the Wikipedia:Business' FAQ for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. speedy deletion[edit]

Okay, I'm relatively new at all this...I didn't sign my user name, so I'll try again. I believe my page parallels that of the Donor Sibling Registry which is included in wikipedia. Could you please tell me how the two are portrayed differently? I'm happy to make modifications, but I honestly don't see how the two pages are different. Thanks. --DCHealth (talk) 14:44, 21 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's a good channel to contest an article deletion. It's called deletion review. I'm not an admin and therefore cannot do anything to re-create the article. Dekisugi (talk) 15:26, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, please do not add promotional material to articles. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" is strongly discouraged. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors;
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam);
    and you must always:
  4. avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines, especially neutral point of view, verifiability, and autobiography.

Can you tell me why my information was deleted from the Donor Sibling Restration page? I really don't see any difference between my entries and those that are already there...? Thanks. DCHealth (talk) 20:00, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[1] Wikipedia is NOT a "repository of links" or a "vehicle for advertising" --Hu12 (talk) 20:09, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. However, how is the information that I posted different from what is already there? It seems I am helping to identify that there are other types of donor sibling registries out there...maybe what I need to do is add another paragraph to the article describing this fact? DCHealth (talk) 20:14, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The nature of Wikipedia means that you can't make a convincing argument based on what other links/info in articles do or don't exist; because there's nothing stopping anyone from adding any link/info to any article. Plenty of links/info exist that probably shouldn't, conversly many links don't exist that probably should. So just pointing out that a links/info exists in an article doesn't prove that Donor Offspring Health Corp. should also exist.
Unfortunately your conflict of interest editing involves contributing to Wikipedia in order to promote donoroffspringhealth.com . Such a conflict is strongly discouraged. Your contributions to wikipedia under DCHealth, Donoroffspringhealth and IP216.87.207.1, consist entirely of adding external links to donoroffspringhealth.com and is considered WP:Spam. Looking through your contributions as a whole, the all seem to be Donor Offspring Health Corp. Registry related only. Please do not create articles or continue adding links to your own websites to Wikipedia. It has become apparent that your account and IP's are only being used for spamming inappropriate external links and for self-promotion. Wikipedia is NOT a "repository of links" or a "vehicle for advertising" and persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted. Any further spamming may result in your account and/or your IP address being blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please see the welcome page and Wikipedia:Civility. Avoid breaching relevant policies and guidelines. You're here to improve Wikipedia -- not just to promote Donor Offspring Health Corp. Registry right? --Hu12 (talk) 20:21, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think maybe I am misunderstanding the purpose of Wikipedia...Isn't it to provide the most complete information possible by pooling information from several sources? I certainly understand your points about promoting Donor Offspring Health Corp., but offspring registries are not just to make matches...for some, that is their primary reason for being. For others, it is to share health information...yes, Donor Offspring Health Corp. happens to be the only one like this. Since only two sites were discussed in the article, why those two (one is still under construction)? Just trying to get a better understanding of how this all works so I can make more appropriate contributions in the future. Thanks.DCHealth (talk) 20:51, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see the edits you made on many of the pages...Makes sense...Why no changes on the sperm donation page? Thanks for the info about how to make more valuable contributions. I'll keep an eye on these pages and make modifications to the INFO parts when I see it is necessary. DCHealth (talk) 15:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
