Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because of the following problems: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

You may request a change of username and unblock if you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization. To do this, first search Special:CentralAuth for available usernames that comply with the username policy. Once you have found an acceptable username, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. plicit 13:41, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I want to contribute to current privacy and compliance topics and share my knowledge in wikipedia. I understand with my article describing DataGuard was not objective enough but it was not my intention to advertise. My sole intention was to inform about what the company does in the privacy and compliance space and to show readers the difference between the company DataGuard and the software Oracle DataGuard. I will refrain from stating about any products or services related to DataGuard and keep it informational and high-level only. Sorry for the inconvenience. I am just getting used to the Wikipedia guidelines and will make sure to adhere to them DataCo GmbH (talk) 09:48, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Your choice of new username is not an improvement, it is just an abbreviated form of your company name plus its founding year. Usernames must be individualistic in nature(your real name is not required). Regarding the block itself, " My sole intention was to inform about what the company does in the privacy and compliance space and to show readers the difference between the company DataGuard and the software Oracle DataGuard." is the definition of promotion, you don't have to be soliciting customers or selling something. Wikipedia is not for merely providing information. A Wikipedia article about a company must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the company, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable company. Wikipedia has no interest in what an organization wishes to say about itself. Please read WP:PROMO, WP:COI, and WP:PAID. You won't be unblocked to, in the short term, edit about anything for which you have a conflict of interest (i.e. your company or its field). If that is your only goal here, this is the end of the road. If you are interested in being a general contributor and editing about topics unrelated to your COI, please tell what those might be. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 12:34, 29 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
