A tag has been placed on SolidCAM, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this.  — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 16:49, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please note[edit]

It is not appropriate for the creator of an article to remove the {{db-spam}} tag. If you think the proposal for deletion is inappropriate, please add a {{hangon}} tag to the article, and then explain your reasons on the article's talk page. Thank you. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 16:56, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I also note that Emil Somekh is the founder of the company, and that you are David Somekh. You might like to take a look at our Conflict of interest guidelines, to make sure you aren't doing anything inappropriate. — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 17:09, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have been accused of sockpuppetry. Please refer to Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/DavidSomekh for evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with notes for the suspect before editing the evidence page.  — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 17:19, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of SolidCAM[edit]

SolidCAM, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that SolidCAM satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SolidCAM and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of SolidCAM during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you.  — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 17:30, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

SolidCAM[edit]

Hi David,

If this product is a leader in CAM software, then there will be reliable third party sources about it. One of Wikipedia's core values is notability. In the particular case of companies and products that means "A company, corporation, organization, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject. The depth of coverage of the subject by the source must be considered. If the depth of coverage is not substantial, then multiple independent sources should be cited to establish notability. Trivial or incidental coverage of a subject by secondary sources is not sufficient to establish notability. Once notability is established, primary sources may be used to add content. Ultimately, and most importantly, all content must be attributable."

As for removing the {{db-spam}} notice, we often get people adding companies that they are closely involved in in order to provide publicity for them. Given the article did not even assert how notable it was it looked like it was just an advertisement. In addition to that, it explicitly says in the notice that the creator of the page is not to remove the notice, but should add the {{hangon}} tag, and explain in the talk page why you thought that tag was inappropriate. Please do remove such a tag from an article you create again.

As for your father being the founder of the company, it could be hard for you to provide a neutral point of view, as you may have a conflict of interest. I'm not saying that it is definitely inappropriate for you to edit the article, but that you need to take extra care to ensure that the article is written in an encyclopaedic manner.

Please read the guidelines and policies I've linked above to get a better understanding of what is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia. If you still feel the SolidCAM meets the criteria, you will need to provide the sources in the article to back up your assertion, and ensure that the article in written from a neutral standpoint.

Thanks.  — Timotab Timothy (not Tim dagnabbit!) 19:33, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Solidcam logo.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Solidcam logo.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:47, 25 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
