Information icon Hello, Dcodethegov. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 09:47, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

June 2020[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. Requested username:

Request reason:

While I am with the organization Dcode, I have disclosed the conflict of interest in my page submission. I didn't realize the username rule, and made sure that all of the information in the article that I submitted was verifiable. Thank you for your time and consideration

Decline reason:

You forgot to tell us what you'll write about instead, now that you know you won't be unblocked to continue promoting your business. Yamla (talk) 14:22, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Dcodethegov/sandbox/Dcode, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Requested username:

Request reason:

I want to be unblocked and change my username because I was not trying to promote my business. I just wanted to create a page to inform people about Dcode. All of the information I have included in the article is verifiable, and I am not getting paid to write it or post it. I have disclosed my conflict of interest. If I am not allowed to write about Dcode, I will write about government innovation.

Decline reason:

That would be an acceptable username. However, "inform people about my business" is the definition of promotion. You don't have to be actively soliciting customers or selling something. "Government innovation", as I see it, clearly falls within your conflict of interest, so you won't be unblocked to edit about that. If there are subjects completely unrelated to your conflict of interest that you want to edit about, you may make another unblock request; I am declining this one. If you haven't already, please read WP:COI. 331dot (talk) 15:59, 19 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock[edit]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I have read through the block guidelines and fully understand now why I was blocked. I work on a shared computer that now does not allow anyone to log into wikipedia and edit, so while I will refrain from trying to edit the page for which I got blocked, I need the IP address on the computer to be unblocked for future users. Thank you. Please let me know if there are any other steps I need to take for this to be done.

Decline reason:

Procedural decline only. This unblock request has been open for more than two weeks but has not proven sufficient for any reviewing administrator to take action. You are welcome to request a new block review if you substantially reword your request. Also, Celia.goldfarb (talk · contribs) is on the same IP address as this account, which I find pretty suspicious. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 11:08, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Keep in mind that anyone else attempting to edit about the same subjects as you from your IP address will likely end up blocked themselves as a sockpuppet or a meatpuppet, as we have no way of knowing who is sitting at your computer making edits. If others have preexisting accounts and are affected by this block, they can request unblock themselves. 331dot (talk) 15:05, 20 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of Draft:Dcode[edit]

Draft:Dcode, a page which you created or substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Dcode and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Draft:Dcode during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. DGG ( talk ) 07:02, 13 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
