Starting an article[edit]

Hi Dan, thanks for the message. Here are a couple of links that may help you get started: Wikipedia:Tutorial gives a general overview and Wikipedia:Article wizard can be used to create an article.

One of the most frustrating things for a new editor is to create an article that gets deleted, so one thing I would recommend is reading and trying to understand the WP:Notability guidelines. They help explain why some articles are kept and others deleted. For example, the article you created, Jamison Ernest, may be deleted because there are not sufficient WP:Reliable sources in the article to demonstrate the subject's notability. To demonstrate notability, you will need to add references from third-party sources: for example, a newspaper article about Mr. Ernest that discusses his work. You had included some references (such as IMDb), which is a good start, but that doesn't tell us much other than he made an uncredited appearance. To demonstrate notability, we'll need sources that have more than a one-line mention. If you can find some of those, go ahead and add them, and if you have any trouble with the formatting, I can help.

Note that you cannot use Wikipedia articles as a reference; I've removed those "references" and reformatted them as links to the articles you were referencing.

Let me know if you have any other questions, and happy editing! 28bytes (talk) 19:16, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've just read the above article you created. It's not too bad for a first attempt. There are a couple of points I should mention, however. From a basic reading, I suspect it won't be long until someone questions the subject's notability. If they're particularly strict, they may even tag it for deletion. To make sure that the article is a suitable addition to an encyclopedia, I urge you to read WP:N, WP:ELPEREN (especially the IMDB section) and WP:V. Otherwise, welcome to Wikipedia, I hope you like the place and decide to stay and please feel free to ask if you have any queries. Oh, and in case no one's told you, remember to sign your questions and comments with four tildes (~~~~). LordVetinari (talk) 23:35, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article Jamison Ernest has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

non-notable fashion designer; fails WP:ENT with two minuscule film roles; fails the GNG, despite gossip column mentions as acquaintance of (semi-)famous people

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Nomination of Jamison Ernest for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Jamison Ernest is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jamison Ernest until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Theredproject (talk) 15:17, 11 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
