Dictionary

[edit]

Redirects are cheap and harmless. I deleted the history so no one could revert back to advertising. I can easily image people typing in "Konkani dictionary" into their search engines. The original article was advertising? Besides you and me no one else knows about it. Renata 13:17, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pudu

[edit]

As per Census of India report both Pudu and Puttur are census towns in Dakshina Kannada District. I have been transferring material created by Ganeshbot Sandbox (see User:Ganeshbot/Not created} and wanted a link for Pudu. There is another Pudu in Malaysia. This is the reason I added it on the district page. The link leads to the town page. Please do not delete the link on the district page as the town page will get orphaned. Rather, you can add the names (possibly with links) for other towns in the district. I hope I have been able to explain the position. Regards. -- P.K.Niyogi 12:18, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Goa Inquisition

[edit]

Hi Deepak, I've noticed your recent edits to Goa Inquisition and I wanted to make sure that you're aware of the three-revert rule, since I noticed that you did an edit and two reverts in a 24-hour period. The more important thing is not to break the spirit of the rule--i.e., not to get in edit wars. You've done the right thing by stating the reasons for your changes on the talk page, and the people who reverted you have not joined in discussion, which is bad of them. Even so, it's important not to get in edit wars with people who aren't using the talk page. By the way, I basically agree with your edit, and if you've seen my comments on the talk page, I think the article is quite inaccurate and sensationalistic, and it needs quite a bit of work. I'm just trying to make sure that the page doesn't descend into the edit warring it's seen in the past. --Akhilleus (talk) 05:51, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Future film

[edit]

Hi, I just thought I would let you know that articles about films cannot be summarily deleted simply because they haven't been completed or released yet. Indeed you will find many articles about future films. If you think a film article should be removed (bearing in mind there is such a guideline as WP:CRYSTAL and the rule of WP:V) please see WP:AFD for information about starting a discussion about the deletion of an article. Thanks, Mallanox 13:03, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you that the articles are of dubious value given their lack of sources. I recently made the this nomination for similar reasons. I hate to say it but "rules is rules"! Mallanox 13:30, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your message, thoughts, and suggestions. I will send an e-mail, perhaps that will help, or perhaps I just have to live with this, weird as that seems.

Thanks again!

On the technical side, everything seems ok. If you can show the accounts/IPs violated 3RR, I suggest you to list the case under E instead of G, adding the diffs. A checkuser should be able to review the case shortly. Cheers! -- lucasbfr talk, checkuser clerk, 07:51, 24 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Re:Civilty

[edit]

Hello,

The "mornoical" dubious tags were placed by User:Xandar(himself a suspected sockpuppeteer) not you directly in front of sourced content. It irritates me to world's end if people who dont have patience to verify citations placing dubious tags just because the author is India. The book i'm referring to has been peer reviwed in JSTOR by academic scholars. I agree that the article suffers for elight exxagerations but it frankly isnt the way you paint it to be. Plus you plea for User:Bakasuprman's blocking on ANI doesnt speak well of your good faith. Amey Aryan DaBrood© 09:27, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User Page

[edit]

Hello Deepak,
Just observed that you are in some conversation with an unsigned person in your User:Deepak D'Souza user page. I believe, you assumed it to be a talk page and responded with your my reply there. Just thought of letting you know about it. Talk is generally done on talk pages and not user pages. Although, there is no rule about it. If you wish to continue there, by all means you can continue there only. Just my 2 cents. Thanks - KNM Talk 14:54, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:AMbroodEY

AMbroodEY's comments were testy (which is his trademark, btw) but nothing objectionable. I vouched for him because he helped considerably in exposing the Kelkar-Baka cabal. Rama's arrow (just a sexy boy) 15:40, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dboys comments

[edit]

Hi Bhadani. I see that Dboy has left a very senti note in order to blackmail you by playing on your personal beliefs[1]. Dont worry about him , that is his usual habit. He has tried it thrice with me, unsucessfully. --Deepak D'Souza (talkcontribs) 07:36, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lectures on Talk page ettiquette

[edit]

Will you please stop stalking my edits? Its getting a tad annoying. Firstly i dont need lectures on WP:AGF by someone who misrepresented me and effectively called me an extremist without even knowing me. People living in glass houses shouldnt really throw stones at others. Also i know my WP rules better, so no need for you to throw your half-baked lectures at me. Wikipedia talkpages are specifically meant to discuss the ways to improve an article not express one's POV. See WP:TALKPAGE also see Template:Off_topic_warning. Your officiousness vis-a-vis my edits is nothing but disruptive just like the guy you are lawyering for... did you see his block log? He has been blocked thrice for trolling talkpages. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Log&type=block&page=User:Vkvora2001 Amey Aryan DaBrood© 18:46, 8 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sir, you added Shivarama Karanth, Gopalakrishna Adiga and U R Ananthamurthy to this list. Do you have citations to prove they were native Tulu speakers and not Kannada. If so please provide the citations.Dineshkannambadi 21:59, 13 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No harm in tagging it and waiting a few days. However, I have not heard of them contributing to Tulu poetry anywhere. As far as I know, Kota's (the family of Karanth) and Adigas are from Kundapura Taluk where majority of people speak Kunda Kannada. This may be the only Taluk where Kannada is majority.Lets wait and see. Thanks.Dineshkannambadi 11:09, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Konkani People

[edit]

Hi Rajadhyaksha/Rajyadhyaksha is indeed a GSB surname. Over time perhaps a few families in Maharashtra switched to speaking Marathi. Or maybe there were people from other communities with the same surname (considering is appears to be the name of some post, perhaps all people in that post were known by that surname). --NayakDeepti 07:05, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

thanks for your advice

History of India is a candidate for WP:ACID

[edit]

Hi,

Did you know that the article History of India is a candidate for Wikipedia:Article Creation and Improvement Drive (shortened to WP:ACID)? If you want it to be the article for the week (and perhaps get it to FA status), perhaps you would want to go the page and vote. Thank you. Clarify

[edit]

Deepak, regarding this comment, if you want to call me "Hindi hating", you are entitled to your opinion, but that comment will be plainly wrong. I have not and will not show any hatred to any language or culture. Also, my being an admin is irrelevant here, as I have not and will not use any of my admin privileges here, since I am involved in the discussion as a user. Just a small clarification, for your information. Thanks. --Ragib 07:16, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tuluva

[edit]

Sir, The term Tulu Nadu is not an official designation. It is only a historical designation. Please revert your edit and be more specific.Dineshkannambadi 13:40, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think its perfectly ok to have Tulu Nadu or Konkan as an article explaining where it exists and so on. But the context of usage was wrong. For instance, in the template it said Tulu Nadu, Maharashtra, Kerala... this implies Tulu Nadu is a seperate state or union territory which is not the case. This gives a wrong impression to an unknowing reader and may even trigger edit wars which are best avoided.I feel the template should say Coastal Karnataka and explain in th article that this region is historically called Tulu Nadu, thats all. I dont have a problem with the article as such.Hope You understand. If such a designation is there in the Konkani Language page it should be corrected. I dont mean any offence.Dineshkannambadi 14:06, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have made the template more clear in both Tuluva and Tulu Nadu articles. Feel free to discuss this with others so as to get consensus. I dont want to make you feel restricted. The Konkani template is wrong. It should be West Coast of India (known historically as Konkan).thanks.Dineshkannambadi 14:17, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tuluva

[edit]

Please open a debate on the discussion page. Sometimes, mistakes can get propagated from one article to the next. I think a wider audience is necessary to resolve this issue rather between the two of us.Dineshkannambadi 13:38, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mangalapuram

[edit]

Hello,

I don't know what happened, but why are Kannada users such as Sarvangya are resisting the Malayalam name for Mangalore. This led me to create new page Mangalapuram. This was quite unnecessary.Pls try to add Malayalam name for Mangalore in its main page so that Mangalapuram can be redirected to Mangalore.I will also add Kannada name for Kasaragod.

Pls reply...

Seperate Tulu State

[edit]

Sir, I have noticed your constant reverts on this issue and wanted to share a few thoughts.

  • A demand for seperate Tulu state is hardly heard of to be even important enough to be mentioned on an encyclopedia.
  • A demand for a seperate state, anywhere in India is considered a viable issue to write about if it has the sanction of a political party of consequence. I dont see one here.
  • There is no shortage of disillusioned people (here I mean a few individuals, not the whole ethnic group under question) all over India claiming a seperate state for themselves, given India's rich diversity. Lets not clog up an encyclopedia with stuff which has no main stream acceptance.
  • Let us not make wikipedia a stage for personal feelings trying to promote something that has not received mainstream sanction. There are many useful and important topics to write about; like the rich contributions Tuluvas have made to Kannada culture and such.
  • I happened to read a comment made by you elsewhere that Kannada culture is a composite culture; I think you were refering to certian geographical areas in Karnataka and claiming it to be the case for the whole of Karnataka. While your statement may be true for those areas of Karnataka bounded by other states and the coastal areas, you forget that districts like Mysore, Hassan, Chikkamagalur, Shimoga, Dharwad, Gadag, Koppal, Bellary, Raichur Tumkur and Chitradurga, southern Bijapur, southern Gulbarga etc. the situation is quite different where Kannada population exceeds 75%.

For You :)

The Special Barnstar
I award you this Special Barnstar for your tireless effort to keep Malayalam name for Mangalore (Mangalapuram) even though it has not been made a reality. ARUNKUMAR P.R[talk] 16:27, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

sigh!!!???why???

[edit]

Why! Because there are much more important things to be done at the Mangalore page. The history section eg is very thin and poor. I am unable to provide references for many of the things mentioned in that section. Over the past few days I have been able to located references for just four items.

The history section requires a very serious look by someone who has good knowledge in both the city and also writing in encyclopaedic style. The other two areas to mention just a few is culture a cuisine. If you ask me these two sections if written well will surely deserve its own page. Considering the age of our city.

Regarding the revert wars please carry on, I am no one to prevent you from continuously adding the Malayalam name. I reverted it just once to get it to your notice, I will not be doing it any more when there are others who are reverting in a blink of a eye.--PremKudvaTalk 04:14, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So far I have got about four references for the history article. The others are still difficult to locate.
Regarding Mangalapuram I am neutral about it. If people feel strongly about not having it then so be it. I have read the discussion as to why they felt it was not required, and they had a point.--PremKudvaTalk 03:23, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image in Infobox (Hyderabad)

[edit]

I think the image in the infobox can be any representative image. The parameter name "skyline" is misguiding. Please see template help. It says that it can be a landmark also. In Chennai article, railway station image is used. Similarly Charminar would be a better option for Hyderabad. Apart from that, the quality of Hitech city image is also poor (too much of a greenish shade).--(Sumanth|Talk) 08:51, 6 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
