Dare Foods

Hi Delldot. You're giving me wikistress by deleting the article earlier than the Wikipedia template said I had. You given my first clue how to use my own workspace, but I'm not sure I want to. There's a certain attractiveness to leaving my work in progress publicly editable at the normal article address Dare Foods. I'm in a bad mood now. If you want to really delete all signs of this immediately before my template-mandated five days are up, you should also delete the links in the what "what links here". You're killing my enthusiasm to edit Wikipedia. Let's discuss this. I want my negative feelings towards this to go away, but I don't know how to do it myself. I also commented on my page to keep answers going everywhere, but let's continue this discussion here. Right now I'm of the opinion you deleted it early, and you should be the one to restore it. It's not supposed to be relevant, but nonetheless I do have RSI so every click and letter I type is weighted. Nastajus 06:09, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

I responded on my page. In addition to my response, I also typed out the long response below. I wanted to also discretely tell you here instead something else. I worked hard on one Wikipedia article on a software called Dragon NaturallySpeaking, wrote about 70% of it, and researched the remaining 30% by asking questions in the community and getting them to contribute. it's now finally carrying it's own weight after some time. It's my only Wikipedia work in this order of magnitude. Now I'm worried some really strict person or people can come along and wipe That Whole Thing because it has no substantial citations referenced, but I know it's a solid article. I don't know what to do. I think I should just keep quiet and let it keep floating there, it's just fine the way it is. I think I should ask your opinion. I don't want to split this into two topics on seperate pages, but I just want anything "bad" about naturallyspeaking directly on my own talk pages. I worked hard at that, I don't need to provide easily visible fuel for someone else to burn me. Nastajus 05:10, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

Confusion

I was researching Scientology for my blog, and wasn't logged in, when the notification appeared that I had a new message. I clicked it, and it said something about Jonny Cash. I haven't even looked at the Jonny Cash page...really ever, so I assume that someone's got the same IP as I do (68.210.212.84). Thing is, I don't know how that's possible. Any way you could explain it to me on my own talk page? Thanks. DL 01:20, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

TEM Info

Hi Delldot,

Thanks for the feedback. You are correct that I'm involved in Telecom Expense Management but I've tried to take a neutral approach in the definition of TEM and delivery options available.

I am new to Wikipedia so I'd welcome your feedback as to what I've written. If you feel it is biased, I'm willing to accept your feedback and potential consequences (i.e. removal). I'm trying to contribute to the promotion of the awareness of TEM--that is the only goal here.

Thanks.—Preceding unsigned comment added by TEMspecialist (talkcontribs)

RE Advice

Based on the last deleted revision, it looks speediable to me under A7. You're right that the copyvio is a non-issue - all works of the US federal government are public-domain - but I still couldn't see any concrete assertion of notability. If he was of general-officer rank or higher I'd give it the benefit of the doubt, but being an NCO (albeit a senior one) doesn't confer automatic notability. There's no special notability guideline for military personnel, so the article has to meet WP:BIO, which can't really be the case with no sources to prove notability. I'd advise the author of the article to recreate it in userspace for now and rewrite it, citing independent sources to demonstrate the notability of the article's subject. Hey Delldot--Wow, I'm so sorry--I thought you were the one, based on the History, who keeps making disparaging remarks on the Wiki entry about me. I had left you a note that concluded, "I don't know why you've singled me out, or what I've done to offend you, but please--send me hate mail, blog about me all you like. But posting false stuff on my Wikipedia just isn't right."

Got your response--and I'm so sorry to have gotten off the track! If that wasn't you, please accept my apology for the false alarm...I, too, am new at this!

Need your help again, sorry

I hope you aren't sorry you accepted being my mentor! :) Any ways on [1] if you go to the title 'page protection again" you will see that two editors are using an article written by a year blocked editor who is also indefinitely blocked from article she has COI issues plus alternate article do to a very nasty ARB that went on when I first started here. I am questioning whether an article written in Forbes (among other on line groups) that it should be deleted immediately. I am now being told to provide policies stating that a blocked editor, who in the article has links to her own website that trashes Wikipedia and some editors here). Where should I go with this and how should I respond to this? My understand of WP:BLP is that things should be deleted immediately. But they are arguing that this does not fall under this rule. I am learning slowly the rules and if I am correct a lot of which is written there should be immediately removed including this article. Am I right or wrong? Would you please take a look at this article and advice when you get a chance? Thanks in advance, --CrohnieGalTalk 14:39, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

(transfered to your page from mine to keep the conversation in one place. I have you on my watch list so you can respond here if you like.
[edit] Your note
Crohnie, no trouble at all, always feel free to ask me stuff. Although, in this case, I don't know how helpful I'll be. I'm having a little trouble understanding the situation. The editor was banned? or just blocked? If she's banned, her edits fall under WP:CSD#G5, but I not if she's just blocked, i.e. not through a decision by arbcom. If you think the whole page should be deleted, the fairest way to handle it would be to take it to WP:AFD. The page has good instructions for how to AFD an article, and I can help. However, if the page in Question is Stephen Barrett, I doubt it would be deleted, it looks like a good article. If it's just certain content you want removed, and all discussion has proved futile so far, you might consider filing a request for comment. I've never done one, but I can help if you like. I think I need more info to be of better help. Can you give me a little background on the conflict and let me know which parts you want removed? Thanks, delldot talk 21:26, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

Retrieved from "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Crohnie"

Sorry should have given you more info. I don't want the article deleted though I think a lot of what is said on the talk page should be. As for the banned editor, it was the ARB which the link is here: [2] also her page: [3]. This article has also gone toWP:BLP,[4], and[5]. There were others but I don't remember all of them and the above should give you the gist of the problems. Now, should Ilena Rosenthal's editorial even be on the talk page with all of the above and if so can you tell me which policy or you can even post on the talk page. I have no problem with you letting them all know you are my mentor. I thought that an editor blocked for a year and indefinitely blocked from all articles that she has COI issues and even being indefinitely blocked from all alternate articles meant that she or a representative of hers was not allowed to do what is being done. The two editors who speak about her article on Forbes were also involved in taking her side during ARB. Also, is there a problem that should be attended to with these two editors posting her information since they were involved in speaking to the ARB committee? It just sounds real hokey to me and I am being bullied to take sides which I do not have one. This article was brought to my attention during the ARB which was posted to my talk page the first week I started there I believe. I am doing better learning policies and editing but I need to be able to finish what I started here. If you have anymore questions about this, please just post it here and I will see it and respond. This way the conversation is in one place. Thanks again for your help,--CrohnieGalTalk 22:56, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Per your request, I'm responding here. I asked about it in the #wikipedia IRC chatroom and actually talked to someone who was familiar with the case. They said that the source can't be used because it is not reliable per WP:RS. That is, it's self-published, so it's not subject to editorial review. That's why the source and the sentence it supports can't be used. Not because anyone's been editing on behalf of a banned user, which so far I haven't seen any evidence for. It seemed like from this user's perspective, the issue had been wrapped up: the material with that source was not to be included because the source was not reliable. permission from JWA

Hi, I beleive that you recently deleted a whole slew of articles that I had posted using text from the Jewish Women's Archive. I am currently an employee there and have been given permission from my supervisor to use the texts that I have. Is there some way in which I can make it clear that all of the 50 or 60 entries that I have made have the same permission without going through and making that explicit on each individual talk-page? I spent a while making those pages and it is rather frustrating that they keep getting deleted. Please let me know. Thanks. Mrudnick87 13:50, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

Capsid

Please check out the corrections I made to Capsid following your recent edit. Please be careful when adding information about virus structure not to generalize from one strain of virus to viruses in general. I see that the person requesting the article Icosahedral capsid introduced the three-protein-per-face assertion, so it is easy to understand how the error crept in. I added a redirect for "Icosahedral capsid" on the off chance another person cares to search for that. ManVhv 01:22, 10 July 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Articles for creation Backlog Elimination Drive News!

We are one week in to the drive, and it's already going fantastic. Numerous days of backlogs have been tackled, with hundreds of articles having been reviewed. We do, however, have some news!

First off, a HUGE congratulations to everyone participating so far. I understand some members are inactive due to vacation, but we are still making great progress.

Secondly, make sure that before you go off and review old submissions, that you review all submissions for the present day, and the day before, so that we aren't actually making a bigger backlog, by letting submissions get archived while we're checking stuff from 2006.

Third, remember to update your running total, on the drive page. Honesty is the best policy, so if you lie about the number of articles you've reviewed, we'll all make angry faces while looking at your userpage.

And, last, if you have any questions about the drive, feel free to ask me, or any other members of the project.

Great job, everyone! We're going to get that backlog!

As a user who has edited the Rusty Nails (filmmaker) article, please read this and help me. You can continue the conversation on my talk page.

This is a place for the discussion of the article Rusty Nails (filmmaker) until the issues regarding it are resolved or the article is deleted. I am inviting any and all wikipedia users to state their opinion in this case. Here's my side of the story:

  • I created the article at the request of the filmmaker. He was happy with the article. Then other users decided to vandalize the article adding faulty information. The article also attempted to reference IMDB, which itself has wrong information concerning the director. The filmmaker's request is to have the article deleted. I recommended the article for deletion and the article was deleted. Then vandals undeleted the article and added more wrong information. If anyone can assist with this issue please do. I'd like to see the article deleted permanently or written according to information supplied by the filmmaker himself. Either way it may be necessary to lock the article so it can't be altered continually as it has been. Xsxex 00:41, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

AFC News

WikiProject Articles for creation Backlog Elimination Drive News!

We are nine days away from the end of the drive, and it's been fantastic! Many, many, many days of backlog have been tackled, and over 1500 articles reviewed!

To start off, a HUGE THANKS to everyone who helped out with the coordination of the drive, and actually fighting the backlog in the drive itself. Everyone's done a great job helping out, no matter how many articles you've reviewed/

Remember to update your running total, on the drive page. This is the ONLY way that I will be able to give out awards appropriately.

Lastly, I will be giving out awards on August 16th. Anyone who could help me, that would be fantastic. Contact me on my talk page if you'd like to volunteer.

Great job, everyone! This Drive has been fantastic, and I'm sure that some members of the Project have definitely made friends by collaborating on the talk pages. Thanks,

Hi there,

not entirely sure how this works (just set up my account!), anyway I have a simple question you may be able to answer.

I think you may have edited an article on the information industry, and I would like to know if you could give me any good references?

I would like you use the quote (or something similar):

“It is considered one of the most important economic sectors..”

in the intro to my PhD. I can't really reference wikipedia, I really need a more solid reference.

Hope you can help,

Cheers, Ben.

My reply delldot talk 17:54, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi,

Thanks for the comprehensive answer. I think I’ll just try to find some general references and keep it as a more general comment.

Thanks, Ben.

I noticed that you left a warning message on the IP address User:172.189.241.6.
