Aha!

Thank you! I was wondering how it changed! :P Can you remove the 2010 too? Tommy! [message] 18:20, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

It looks like you figured it out...and then decided not to :) Anyway, I was going to post a message on your talk, but I had to leave. Let me just say this: DISPLAYTITLE can't display something other than the title of a page, only the appearance (e.g. lowercase first letter, or italicized title--yes, there are templates for those things, {{lowercase title}} and {{italic title}}, but they use DISPLAYTITLE along with some other magic words and stuff to determine what the page name is). But, you can use <span class="display:none"> to type text that isn't displayed--I got that code from User:HJ Mitchell (but I think someone other than HJ did the DISPLAYTITLE for that page). So saying "<span style="display:none">User:</span>Tommy<span style="display:none">2010</span>" displays as "User:Tommy2010", not "User:Tommy2010", but the DISPLAYTITLE takes it. dffgd talk·edits 20:43, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Muchas gracias mi amiguito tejano. Tommy! [message] 20:49, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Ya made me go find this. Oh, and you're welcome :) dffgd talk·edits 20:56, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Actually, this is way better... I'd use it for your spanish classes, it's that good. Tommy! [message] —Preceding undated comment added 07:52, 2 August 2010 (UTC).

Hello Dffgd,

Re. diff Not sure -- 220.101 talk\Contribs 21:33, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
I did that to get rid of the "The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it." tag that {{hat}} and {{hab}} put on it. I didn't know what color to put in, so I put a colorful color for where there were a bunch of colors... You can change the color by typing a new color where I typed "yellow" and "lightgray" in there. I don't know how many colors the code takes typed out (normally you use a sequence of letters and numbers)--if you typed "lightgrayishbluegreen" in, it probably wouldn't work--but most somewhat normal colors will work. dffgd talk·edits 21:53, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay, I think I have a better idea--{{cot}} and {{cob}}. Take a look at those pages, and see if that looks OK. dffgd talk·edits 22:01, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
Question: But why? Does it come up on a 'Category' page with {{hat}} and {{hab}}? ps. UTC+10 here so you caught me as I was about to go to bed, very late! >;-\ pps. I think I see the diff now! -- 220.101 talk\Contribs 02:00, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
You can change it back if you want! I just changed it to remove the "this has been closed" thing--I didn't think that you had put it there on purpose :). You can use {{cot}}, though, instead of {{hat}}. Btw, use {{tl}} to make those links--e.g. {{tl|name}} makes {{name}}. (And use {{tlp}} to make the links with parameters; e.g. {{tlp|name|parameter}} makes {{name|parameter}}, and {{tlp|tlp|name|parameter}} makes {{tlp|name|parameter}}...but wait, I don't want to start an endless loop...or have I already? :) dffgd talk·edits 02:45, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I finally worked that out the difference after starting my reply, no biggy. Go to  Question: That's an endless loop! -- 220.101 talk\Contribs

Hi there. I've given trying to edit the article while it's so busy, but I think you may have made a mistake here. Regards, --WFC-- 17:18, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I think they saw this and reverted. The Raptor You rang?/My mistakes; I mean, er, contributions 17:19, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
I was just about to say that, but I fixed it first. The vandal tried to revert his/her vandalism apparently, but didn't restore the whole thing (see the name diff), but inbetween someone added a reference, which also got reverted. dffgd talk·edits 17:22, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks!

I award you this barnstar to let you know that your vandalism reverting on my userpage during my wikibreak does not go un-noticed. Thanks and keep it up! Tyrol5 [Talk] 21:07, 7 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks yourself! Now he's after me... dffgd talk·edits 22:17, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

Appreciated

Honestly, a very odd purpose for a template, that one is. But consider it eaten, and that was no problem. 2Ð ℳǣ$₮ℝʘ talk, sign 11:59, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

PS: If you want a guestbook, I'd happily start you one, and put your name on the list of guestbooks for massive signage! 2Ð ℳǣ$₮ℝʘ talk, sign 13:30, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

I was thinking of trying to start it myself, but once I do you can add it to the list. dffgd talk·edits 20:31, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

Mindset of vandals

I've been doing vandalism research lately, and I would like to get into the mindset of a vandal so I can continue my research. However, the only way I can think of getting into the mindset of a vandal is to create another account to be used for this testing purpose. While creating legit socks isn't against policy, creating vandalism-only accounts is. Can you think of any other way I could get into the mindset of a vandal without actually becoming one? The Raptor You rang?/My mistakes; I mean, er, contributions 23:33, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure what you mean by "getting into the mindset of a vandal"--could you explain? dffgd talk·edits 23:39, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I mean figuring out why they vandalize, why they even try. I mean, with vandal fighters around their efforts are futile. The Raptor You rang?/My mistakes; I mean, er, contributions 23:42, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Barnstar

Not Just Another Guestbook Barnstar...
This user has signed EWikist's guestbook* and therefore deserves this award. You could too!

* Either that, or they just stole the tag for this without signing. If that is the case, make this user feel very guilty by placing such terms as "Honesty is the best policy" on their page.

Uh yea, what's all this about? Tommy! [message] 20:20, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for the yummy cookie. Why are you leaving? ... discospinster talk 20:15, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Best of luck in all of your future endeavors; wherever life may take you, I hope you'll find nothing but happiness and fulfillment. Regards, Tyrol5 [Talk] 20:17, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

?????

Can I ask why you're leaving? :( Pilif12p :  Yo  20:34, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Bye, everyone!

Real life is taking up more of my time, and I am also losing interest in Wikipedia. But, I would like all of you to know that (except for the vandals ☺) your help and companionship was greatly appreciated. Bye, and have a good time improving and defending Wikipedia! dffgd talk·edits 20:40, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

Alright. I hope you at least check in :) Tommy! [message] 20:43, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

To put it another way, I'm giving up vandalism fighting (in the sense of looking for vandalism, like through Huggle) and switching to just fixing problems that I see while normally viewing Wikipedia--which can be done without an account. dffgd talk·edits 20:54, 25 August 2010 (UTC)

In that case, don't forget your edit summaries. :-) ... discospinster talk 21:37, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Auf wiedersehen, Freund. That's "goodbye friend" in German. You will be missed. The Raptor You rang?/My mistakes; I mean, er, contributions 21:53, 25 August 2010 (UTC)
Whenever I see a valuable editor retire I always hope it's just a break. I believe you have taken this decision in your best interest so, of course, I will respect it. Thanks for your hard work and (being the lazy sod that I am) I hope that you will continue to find ways to help out. See ya 'round Tiderolls 02:08, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Best wishes and godspeed, good luck with your endeavours and be sure to drop a line from time-to-time. Ғяіᴅaз'§Đøøм | Tea and biscuits? 03:08, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Truly sorry you are going. You were an asset to Wikipedia. JamesBWatson (talk) 07:28, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

One more note: I have a dynamic IP, so you probably can't track me by that. 206.104.146.24 (talk) 13:54, 26 August 2010 (UTC)

Maybe I should come up with a signature for the few times I would need it, like this: dffgd editing as ~~~~
dffgd editing as 206.104.146.24 (talk) 14:01, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Just keep using your account! I sometimes disappear on long breaks, but I will never leave Wikipedia; even if I am a mere user and not editor, I will always be here and will still want my contributions tracked to my own account (I hate revealing my IP). Please consider keeping using your account, just note the talk page that you are dropping back on your normal roles. =) (I just hate those banners saying someone left.)
