Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Dmorale29, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Hello,
Im not sure why you are saying this sounds like an advertisement as I used several Wikipedia examples. If my article sounds like an ad then so does theirs because I used the same voice and style. DOsnt this sound like an ad too? https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eclipse_Records&action=edit What's the difference. they mention the services they offer Can you please be more specific about how this reads like an ad? Also, articles provided as references are from credible sources. I'm confused. HOw do i make these edits and resubmit? Dmorale29 (talk) 03:18, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your account has been blocked indefinitely for advertising or promotion and violating the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use. This is because you have been making promotional edits to topics in which you have a financial stake, yet you have failed to adhere to the mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a form of conflict of interest (COI) editing which involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is strictly prohibited. Using this site for advertising or promotion is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia.

If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, please read our guide to appealing blocks to understand more about unblock requests, and then add the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the end of your user talk page. For that request to be considered, you must:

  • Confirm that you have read and understand the Terms of Use and paid editing disclosure requirements.
  • State clearly how you are being compensated for your edits, and describe any affiliation or conflict of interest you might have with the subjects you have written about.
  • Describe how you intend to edit such topics in the future.

The page Draft:Black Note Graffiti has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seemed to be unambiguous advertising which only promoted a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to have been fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Request reason:

Hello, I have been accused of being affiliated with the band Black Note Graffiti. I am the owner of DCYPHER STUDIOS and I tried to write an article about my company but I did not realize that a TOS violation at the time and it was a mistake. So I dropped it and started to write about a local band here. There are local bands who are playing at the upheaval festival in Michigan. It is a major event shared with famous acts and I want to write a blog about these bands. I also want to write about a band called Heartsick and Of virtue. They are all from Michigan. I am not affiliated with them either. I am just a fan. and I am also a journalist for a few magazines one being The Hype magazine. This is my profile https://www.thehypemagazine.com/author/david-morales/ I do not get paid for this either. I was blocked by an admin after I inquired how to complain about an editor who, I feel denied my draft because she doesn't like me. I say this because she denied my draft shortly after kicking me from the room. She didn't like I was using caps and started to swear at me using the F word. I am writing this because it is relevant to my experiences here and why I was blocked. I wrote to Wikipedia and complained about this issue but then the admins started to accuse me falsely and accused me of being a liar saying that I am affiliated with the band and that they know this because of the DCYPHER STUDIOS article that I tried to write. Attached is my DISABILITY statement from the US on disability. I do not work. I am a blogger and I like to write about bands https://dcypherstudios.com/blog for FUN. Hre is a verification letter. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1lw6srNBkwVCbnCovT9SQ6u3jfaidGBmh/view?usp=sharing I do not monetize this writing. I was told by wiki admins that my writing is promotional CRAP and is obvious that I am affiliated with the band. I was offended. Because I share information on my social media about a band does not mean they are PAYING ME. there is no evidence of this and it is pure speculation. I feel this is happening because I made an admin mad and a group of chatters vilified me. I made these people angry. . when this admin started cursing at me things got escalated. I am not allowed to work while on disability. The Wikipedia admins had a superficial look at my content and decide without knowing me that I am lying and a fraud and in violation of TOS. I respect TOS as I went to photographer Chuck Marshal to upload an image of the band because he was the copyright owner. I did this because I respect the law. I hold a master's level education in Social work and Arts Administration. the writing I do is for my community and to help artists succeed. I like the fact that a black woman is leading this band and I admire her so much I wanted to feature her but NO. I'm very upset and frustrated and I know I may have been received to be rude and got into an argument but I feel this treatment is harsh and discriminatory. I tried to explain my situation and they just said I was lying and they said that they didn't believe me. I admitted to writing the DCYPHER STUDIOS article. But that was my first submission and I learned since then. They took my previous mistake and assumed. Please unblock me. The bands do not deserve to be mixed up in this. These people deserve more. My goals not only involve artist development but to incorporate the role of art and entertainment within a community. My mission is to fill the void in the arts opportunity gap for low-income and minority artists and to connect artists to the communities they represent. As the owner of DCYPHER STUDIOS, I provide community-based artist development activities that allow artists to perform and network so they can learn new ways to elevate their brand and dissolve the barriers to the art and entertainment industry. it is essential for me to organize creative place-making projects that tie into these macro systems in the community. Art and live music help increase business, reduce crime, and influence commercial growth for artists and the communities they serve. It helps to enhance social inclusion, create revenue, build equity, and increase cultural awareness while creating a stable economy for artists. This is my goal and there is NO money in it. My past experiences as a drummer and the fact that I love working with people and my past experience as a social worker gave me a footing into my adventure to start DCYPHER STUDIOS. I used this PROTOTYPE business model as a platform to gain access to a graduate program where I received an MA in Arts Administration. After I graduated with a BS in psychology, I went on to pressure an MSW. Unfortunately, social work was not what I expected, and I burned out within a year. On the one hand, I was devastated because I put so much time and effort into training as a psychotherapist, and on the other, I was excited to start a new adventure. But I wasn’t sure exactly sure what I wanted to do. One thing that I love about social work is writing about people. So, I got a journalist job and started writing about politics and pop culture. This was when I started contacting music publicists who secured interviews and access to live events for reviews. People like Chuck Marshal of Life in Michigan.Thank you! I also wanted to add that when I was a waiter at a fine dining restaurant we had a choice as to whether or not to add gratuity to parties over 10. We were told that it was a policy that whether we choose to add it or not that we apply the same policy for every customer. That means that if I decided to add gratuity to one party I had to do it to the next no matter who they are or how they treat me or what they look like. Let's say I decided to add a tip to a party that I felt wasn't gonna tip me so I did one and at the next party, I don't add a tip because well they look like they are gonna tip or you think they had a better experience. Doing this is considered discrimination. why do I mention this? If someone is kicking me from a room because they are angry, they should not be the ones taking the emotions with them when they are editing my article. it's not a fair assessment. It felt like this person was trying to have power over me and letting me know that I better respect them or else. When someone draws your blood for example and they cannot get your vein on the thrid to try it is a policy that someone else takes over and tries again. This is because people get frustrated and annoyed and they are more likely to make a mistake. I think my feelings are normal considering my experience chatting with the admins here. Decline reason:

The administrator who blocked you is not the one with whom you had a spat in IRC. I do not frequent IRC, do not know exactly what was said on IRC, and for the most part don't think that actions on IRC should carry over to Wikipedia. That said, I endorse GeneralNotability's block on the basis on undisclosed paid editing. Dmorale29 is welcome to make another unblock request; they may also engage in conversation by making very clear what your status is, since one of the first articles you attempted to write was about your company.
You invoked consistency in your request. We have a staggering number of editors who create accounts to write about their companies and their paid clients. Please consider this matter from our perspective, that you looked like those other editors and were blocked just like those other editors are. By engaging in discussion and making clear what the status of your company is, and by pledging to not write about your company or a paid client, there is a path forward to being unblocked, as you will demonstrate that you aren't like them. —C.Fred (talk) 12:54, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

For whatever bit of record actually matters here, I will admit that I lost my cool and said things that I should not have on IRC, and for that I apologise. Any admin is welcome to contact me if they wish to know more about that part of this particular issue.
The declining of the draft, however, had nothing to do with that conversation because it was a straight-up WP:PROMO piece and was not acceptable as-written. I genuinely do not have any opinion on the UPE aspect of this issue (which was dealt with by uninvolved administrators following this ANI thread) but I have no reason to believe that what has been said is false. • Your company website says "An ENTERTAINMENT MARKETING SOLUTIONS PLATFORM delivers audience targeting and measurable results for your brand integrations". I would just like to know if it is your statement that while you work in entertainment marketing, you are not editing clients. 331dot (talk) 08:24, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I also said that my company is a prototype that I made to get into graduate school, I used it as a teaching platform when i worked as an adjunct. if you know anything about artist management. It takes years to make any kind of money. the artists hat I work with are selected based on their disposition and how they are affected by stratification. None make any kind of money at all. It may look like I make money because i am really good at what i do. My article used the same voice as other music artists on this platform as I used the writing as a guide. The admin who declined my draft stated that I plagiarized and copy and pasted and did not cite my sources correctly and that is completely false whether or not your opinion thinks its promo or not. My porotype company doesn't not even have an EIN. Meaning that I have never paid taxes with that name because I've never made an income with my company. i told the admins I was a journalist for music magazines and i was labeled a liar. I think is bizarre that I have to share my personal information and that there has been a private investigation about me and my company as I noticed people hitting up my social media. The fact that I have to share my disability status to prove I make less than 1000 a month is embarrassing and uncalled for really. But because I was labeled a liar and because I feel I was discriminated against I decided to speak up. Dmorale29 (talk) 12:45, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that I have to share my disability status - you were never required to do that. You chose to do that.
The admin who declined my draft stated that I plagiarized and copy and pasted - uh... no? Primefac (talk) 12:50, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There was a decline by a non-admin user of Draft:Black Note Graffiti back in July 2022 that mentioned copyright infringement as the reason. —C.Fred (talk) 13:02, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yes, I missed that. I do sometimes forget that new(er) editors sometimes mistake anyone experienced as an "admin" and thus assumed the comment was about me. Primefac (talk) 13:16, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I still teach as an adjunct sometimes. So I keep my website up so I can teach students. Also artists managers work on a commission. Do you really think any of the artists that I work many any money? It may look like I make money because I am good at what I do. I take my open photos and create my own content. Dmorale29 (talk) 12:56, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
With all due respect, which of these contradictory statements is correct: I am not allowed to work while on disability or I still teach as an adjunct sometimes? —C.Fred (talk) 12:58, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
iam allowed to work but i am not allowed to make any money. Any additional income and i would bnot be on disability they would take it way, some people in this society work without out being paid. believe it or not. Dmorale29 (talk) 13:08, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also working as an adjunct pays very very little and not enough to remove my disability we have something called Right to work in Michigan that lets people work part time. If i make a certain amount of money they wil take my disability away. Anything i make i have to report to the government. Iam tired of being labeled a liar because the white privileged people on this platform to not understand my disposition does not mean iam a liar or a fraud. the fact is my company makes no money and i can prove this iam not being paid to edit. The fact that you arte accusing me and this questioning and lack of understanding just shows my predicament as a minority in this society. People are piging me on my social media in support of me as they are reading this here FYI. Dmorale29 (talk) 13:14, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also working as an adjunct is not only seasonal and is not full time. the fact that i work as an adjunct doesn't not have anything to do with wikipedia or my work as a journalist. this is an example of how minorities are discriminated against in our society, which largely stems from person beliefs and false accusations and misunderstandings of values.i tal about this here https://www.thehypemagazine.com/2017/04/true-story-of-pocahontas-romantic-fantasy-or-sexually-exploited/
The model in this picture was not paid. I made no money from this article and I do not profit of native american people so before you insult me further do not even go there please. Dmorale29 (talk) 13:25, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming your rationale for being unblocked is the one below, I am declining it because it does not address the reason for your block. No one here knows anything about you, and no one here has ever met you, so know one has any prior knowledge of any identity or minority status you have. Also, at no time did anyone say that you lied or called you anything. You were blocked for promotional editing; using Wikipedia to inappropriately promote things. Decline reason:

What you did was write promotional material about a band that, based on a trivial overview of your company's (not your personal) Facebook page, is one of your clients. The details of who gets paid exactly how much is irrelevant; you are writing about your client without disclosing that relationship, and that is against the rules of Wikipedia. If you *do* get money from being the owner of DCYPHER STUDIOS--for any reason, not just specifically for editing Wikipedia--then your contribution is against the TOS as undisclosed paid editing, but even if you aren't, the fact that they are your client is a serious conflict of interest. Either way, the content itself was promotional in tone, and whether or not other promotional material exists on Wikipedia does not allow you to put equally problematic material on Wikipedia. I don't see how you've been discriminated against, but regardless of that, you will not be allowed to edit Wikipedia unless you rectify those problems. Writ Keeper  13:47, 2 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
